I Shouldn’t Be Roofing in This Weather
We woke up to fresh snow on the homestead — and a narrow window to get the woodshed roof finished before winter settles in for good. In this video I straighten the rafters, install full-dimension rough-cut Douglas fir fascia, rip strapping for the roof deck, and push to get everything buttoned up before the weather turns. The material is locally milled full 1-inch Doug fir — circular sawn for that honest, rustic finish. No drama. Just careful layout, clean cuts with the track saw, and doing it right so I don’t have to stare at crooked fascia for the rest of my life. Projects covered: Squaring rafters with a string line Installing rough-cut Douglas fir fascia Ripping 1x lumber for roof strapping Preparing the roof deck for metal roofing Working efficiently in winter conditions Winter doesn’t wait. If you’re building your own woodshed, barn, or outbuilding, this may give you a few ideas for your next project. May God bless you and your families.
