House of the Dragon Season Three Teaser: Big Battles and a Very Suspicious Matt Smith

News House of the Dragon House of the Dragon Season Three Teaser: Big Battles and a Very Suspicious Matt Smith The nice people of Westeros are back and having very civilized disagreements By Molly Templeton | Published on February 19, 2026 Image: HBO Comment 0 Share New Share Image: HBO Houses, dragons, men in shiny armor, men in muddy armor, stabbings, betrayals, Matt Smith looking suspicious, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) in tears, men on ships: from one perspective, the new teaser for House of the Dragon has it all. From another, there’s not a lot going on here. Oh, sure, a new character or two gets the spotlight, including James Norton as Ormund Hightower, standing all forlorn on a battlefield. And the rivalry between Rhaenyra and Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) continues to smolder. Will Alicent betray Rhaenyra? Do dragons breathe fire? (Please don’t yell at me about spoilers; I actually don’t know anything about where this clash of queens is going.) Apparently Rhaenyra has some new dragons, which is quite an exciting development. But if there is one thing I know about politics in Westeros, it’s that things never work out the way it seems they ought to. But, as is tradition, there will be a big, bloody battle. This time it’s the Battle of the Gullet, which takes place at sea. Showrunner Ryan Condal told Entertainment Weekly, “I will say that the war this season goes very hot, very, very quickly. I think the people that were waiting and waiting for all of the horrible, brutal, pitiless bloodshed will be getting it in copious amounts.” House of the Dragon was recently renewed for a fourth (and likely final) season, an announcement which came alongside news that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms would return for at least a second season. Whether any of the many other rumored spinoffs (or the final two books in George R. R. Martin’s series) will ever come to pass is anyone’s guess, but there is a stage play coming, should you need to get your fix in some other form. The third season of House of the Dragon premieres on HBO in June.[end-mark] The post House of the Dragon Season Three Teaser: Big Battles and a Very Suspicious Matt Smith appeared first on Reactor.
