2nd Grader Goes Viral After Showing Off His Remarkably Hilarious ‘Greatest Accomplishment’
Leah McGee is a very proud mom. Her 8-year-old son, Atticus, is one very cool kid. Recently, the second grader showed his mom an accomplishment that positively astounded her. No, he didn’t win the school talent show or beat his classmates in a geography competition. Atticus didn’t even rack up the most minutes reading in a single semester. All of those would, in fact, be remarkable feats, but he did something even more amazing. Atticus showed his mom a pencil he’d used and sharpened down to practically nothing. And, yes, it really is as cool as you might think!

Atticus’ Pencil Really is Amazing
“I was like, ‘Wow, that is truly the smallest pencil I’ve ever seen,’” Leah told Today.
She shared the image of Atticus’ sharpened pencil on Threads and he quickly went viral.
“Okay SO THIS is why I adore this app so freaking much!!!!!!!” Someone wrote.
Others could totally relate to Atticus’ pencil quest.
“I did this in 7th grade…in 1973. And yes, weirdly, I still have it,” someone shared.
Teachers loved it, too.
“High school math teacher here. I have been waiting for the chosen one. This is my Excalibur. Get this child a crown,: one wrote.
Others gave suggestions so Atticus could make the most out of each of his pencils.
“Tell him to keep collecting! Also invest in a pencil extender—it makes getting to the finish line easier on the hand ;)” Someone shared.
Leah told Today she thinks her post took off because so many people can relate to that classroom life and school supply fun.
“I think it’s kind of a universal childhood experience,” she said. “People are really into nostalgia right now, and happy to see that kids are still doing the same things they were doing in the ‘70s and ‘80s and ‘90s.”
