Mamdani REFUSES To Condemn Radical Islam After ISIS-Inspired Attack, Instead Blames White Supremacy

Maybe Mayor Zohran Mandani is reading the wrong police report. As the WLT Report previously covered, on Saturday afternoon, two Muslim men were arrested near Mayor Zohran Madani’s Gracie Mansion after carrying out a terror attack against anti-Islam protesters and police officers. According to authorities, the men yelled “Allahu Akbar” and threw two homemade bombs filled with nails, which have since been confirmed to be live bombs, but fortunately, they did not detonate. The entire attack was caught on video: Here’s video of one of the Muslim suspects lighting an IED and throwing it at the feet of police outside the mayor’s mansion in NYC. The attack was apparently retaliation for the anti-Islam protest, which leftists urged people to shut down. pic.twitter.com/foAJS4fr0a — Andy Ngo (@MrAndyNgo) March 9, 2026 Another video of the scene: The bomb thrown at anti-Islam protesters in NYC contained TATP, an “enormously volatile” and extremely powerful substance used by groups like Al Qaeda and ISIS, and in attacks like the 7/7 London bombings and the Ariana Grande concert attack. Authorities say it was a very serious… pic.twitter.com/CiNVmmnx3w — The Daily News (@DailyNewsJustIn) March 8, 2026 In response to the terror plot, during a press conference on Monday, Mayor Madani called out white supremacy and racism instead of condemning the attack. The New York Post covered Mamdani’s press conference: Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Monday refused to condemn the pair of alleged ISIS-loving radical Islamists who are charged with tossing IEDs near Gracie Mansion during an anti-Muslim protest Saturday. “They are suspected of coming here to commit an act of terrorism,” Hizzoner said during a press conference outside Grace Mansion, flanked by NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch. “There’s video of these two individuals throwing two devices towards the protest. The police department has determined that these were improvised explosive devices made to injure, maim, or worse.” He added, “Let me say this plainly: Anyone who comes to New York City to bring violence to our streets will be held accountable in accordance with the law.” On Sunday, Mamdani issued a mealy-mouthed statement denouncing the organizer of a right-wing anti-Muslim rally — but not directly commenting on the alleged bomb tossers. “Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are,” the statement said. “What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are.” Mamdani, the first Muslim mayor of the city, railed against the anti-Muslim protesters but did not mention that the counter-protesters were allegedly self-radicalized by ISIS videos. Watch Mamadani here: So, two Muslims nearly murdered dozens of people in NYC with IEDs and Mamdani’s first impulse is to rail against Islamophobia and white supremacy?!? Islamophobia suggests an irrational fear of Islam. Is it irrational when Islamic jihadists keep trying to massacre Americans? https://t.co/QLrM7E0VrJ — Andrew Kolvet (@AndrewKolvet) March 9, 2026 NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch didn’t hide the facts: NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch confirms the Islamic attack on NYC this Saturday is being investigated as an act of “ISIS-inspired terrorism.” She adds that the devices used were IEDs and not hoaxes. Yet Mayor Mamdani started this press conference blaming white supremacy. pic.twitter.com/aQILHDk2ha — Paul A. Szypula (@Bubblebathgirl) March 9, 2026 NPR provided further details on the terror attack: New York City police commissioner Jessica Tisch said on Monday that an attempted bomb attack during a protest on Saturday outside Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s official residence is being investigated by the NYPD and the FBI as “act of ISIS-inspired terrorism.” Australian officials say ISIS, also known as the Islamic State, inspired the deadly Bondi Beach terror attack last year that killed 15 people and left dozens more seriously injured. At a press conference, Tisch said federal charges are expected to be unsealed soon against two men allegedly involved in the incident. She identified the suspects, who are both in custody, as Emir Balat, 18, and Ibrahim Kayumi, 19, both from Pennsylvania. “These were not hoax devices nor smoke bombs. They were improvised explosive devices that could have caused serious injury or death,” Tisch said, referring to two devices thrown on Saturday. According to Tisch, at least one of the devices was made with triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, a chemical widely used by IED bomb-makers around the world. “Devices like these have the potential to cause devastating harm,” she said. NYPD officials say a third device, which did not contain explosive material, was also identified and disposed of on Sunday in a vehicle nearby. The incident occurred during an anti-Muslim protest on Saturday organized by far-right activist Jake Lang that targeted Mamdani, who is New York City’s first Muslim mayor. The non-violent rally attracted counter-protesters. Officials say Balat and Kayumi then allegedly targeted the right-wing protesters with the explosive devices. Care to share your thoughts?
