“Light Bulb Went Off Over My Head”: Ella Langley Explains Title Of Forthcoming ‘Dandelion’ Album

Dandelion is dropping in less than a month, and Ella Langley has a really cool story behind how she came up with the album’s title. Her highly-anticipated sophomore album promises to be honest, authentic, and a very real depiction of where she’s at in life right now, following major success with her debut album Hungover in the summer of 2024. That record of course featured her smash hit, award-winning song with Riley Green “You Look Like You Love Me,” and it was a conversation with her makeup artist that inspired Dandelion because of that first album, actually. Ella told The Highway’s Cody Alan that she played the title track for him, and he told her that dandelion tea is actually a natural way to detox your liver, and of course, that whole idea was a perfect continuation from Hungover in so many ways: “I was listening to [‘Dandelion’] the day we did the music video for ‘You Look Like You Love Me.’ I was showing my makeup artist, Chris Bear. He was in there and the bus is moving, and [imagine] he’s like doing my hair with hot tools and stuff. We’re listening to the song and I said, ‘This is the song ‘Dandelion.’ I thought it’d be a really cool album title.’ And I played him the song, and he said, ‘Did you know that dandelion tea is a natural detox for your liver?’ And when he said that, it was literally like one of those cartoon light bulbs went off over my head. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, a record that I created in my early 20s to a record now in a little bit of my later 20s. I mean, everyone can look at themselves in [their] early 20s and later 20s and be like, ‘There’s a change there.’” She hopes that people can really get to know who she is and understand her on a deeper level. As Ella so eloquently put it, “‘Hungover’ was the thing that maybe brought them to the table, but ‘Dandelion’s’ going to be the one that makes them sit down and eat”: “So with this record, I wanted people to get to know who I am. I keep saying that ‘Hungover’ was the thing that maybe brought them to the table, but ‘Dandelion’s’ going to be the one that makes them sit down and eat. And for that, this is who I am. I mean, you could listen to this record and not meet me, not listen to me, and you could understand who I was as a person and where I come from and kind of what got me here.” Ella’s trajectory over the last year or so has been absolutely wild, and I’m sure that will only continue with the release of this new record. Ella wrote “Dandelion” with Joybeth Taylor, Austin Goodloe and Brett Tyler. It feels very breezy and calm, like a dandelion swaying in the wind on a slow, sunny summer afternoon. She embraces the fact that she might not be flashiest, most perfect flower in the field, but rather is “born to live free, riding on a breeze” like a real wildflower: “I’m okay if I’m a little more dandelion, Born to live free, riding on a breeze, On a summer night, Tucked back in the weeds, guess that’s just me, In a bed of red roses, I’m the one growing up on the wilder side, So if you’re tired of thorns, I’m a little more, dandelion” The album is slated for release on April 10th, and she has put out several songs so far including the hit “Choosin’ Texas” and “Be Her” as well. “Dandelion” The Dandelion Tour Dates 5/7/2026 Toledo, OH Huntington Center (+,&) 5/8/2026 St. Louis, MO Chaifetz Arena (+,&) 5/14/2026 Estero, FL Hertz Arena (@, &) 5/15/2026 Savannah, GA Enmarket Arena (@, &) 6/18/2026 Oklahoma City, OK Zoo Amphitheatre (+,&) 6/19/2026 Independence, MO Cable Dahmer Arena (+,&) 6/25/2026 Salem, VA Salem Civic Center (+,&) 6/26/2026 Wilmington, NC Live Oak Bank Pavilion at Riverfront Park (+,&) 7/23/2026 Pikeville, KY Appalachian Wireless Arena (#, %) 7/24/2026 Cary, NC Koka Booth Amphitheatre (#, %) 7/25/2026 North Charleston, SC North Charleston Coliseum (#, %) 7/30/2026 Gilford, NH BankNH Pavilion (@, %) 7/31/2026 Canandaigua, NY CMAC (@, %) 8/13/2026 Austin, TX Moody Center (#, &) 8/14/2026 Corpus Christi, TX Hilliard Center (#, &) 8/15/2026 Fort Worth, TX Dickies Arena (#, &) @ Kameron Marlowe + Dylan Marlowe # Kaitlin Butts & Gabriella Rose % Laci Kaye BoothThe post “Light Bulb Went Off Over My Head”: Ella Langley Explains Title Of Forthcoming ‘Dandelion’ Album first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
