Least Surprising Thing Ever: J6-Obsessed Former CBS Journo Joins Far-Left Outlet
In not-so-shocking turn of events, former CBS correspondent Scott MacFarlane — a man with seemingly zero hobbies in life outside of January 6 — announced Monday morning he was joining the far-left Meidas Touch Network as a host and correspondent, cartoonishly insisting without a shred of irony he’s “not an opinionist” or “editorialist” but would nonetheless refuse to “platform conspiracy theories” or allow “whitewashing of history” in “such a critical moment.”
The pedantic partisan boasted to followers that, less than ten days after leaving CBS, he would become, “[e]ffective immediately,” the “chief Washington correspondent for the MeidasTouch Network” and an eponymous daily show will launch in “two or three weeks,” bringing together those who “share the same north star of communicating that when you have news to break or something important to explain, just get to it, straight to the point.”
ALERT: Professional news. Nine days after leaving CBS, I have found a new professional home:

He added his show will “simply, declaratively and conversationally explain what’s happening” in the world,” while “put[ting] aside the production theater, and the useless bells and whistles.”
As an aside, anyone who has to tell you that is probably concerned about all of the above, along with their general self-image.
Then came the laugh-out-loud claims of objectivity:
I’m not an opinionist. I’m not an editorialist. I’m far from a politician. I’m an enterprise reporter and have been for a quarter of a century. What I’ll do is bring this enterprise reporting to all the components of the MeidasTouch Network...And you’ll still see all of my reporting on my many platforms that you may have been seeing over the past few months or past few years.
Like many of these wannabe authoritarians posing as beacons of freedom, MacFarlane declared his political allegiances in the rest of the video, alluding to the “critical moment” in the country and the need for Americans to stick together “to get to the other side of whatever this is”:
This is such a critical moment. It’s important when we underscore how significant this moment is. This moment of unique political toxicity and unique political danger in the MeidasTouch and I have long shared this same philosophy, you don’t platform lies. You don’t platform conspiracy theories and you don’t allow for the whitewashing of history. We’ll do that together. And you and I will do that together. If you’re in this with me, you know I’ll be here 365 days a year chasing news, giving you news, trying to give you context and explanation. We can run through walls together to get to the other side of whatever this is. That’s how important a moment it is and why hope this announcement is important too.
MacFarlane also showed up on a MeidasTouch livestream and told viewers his “values are pretty clear” and “consistent” with values he’s “champion[ed]...for quite some time.”
MacFarlane: I’m not an opinionist. I’m not an editorialist. I’m not someone who waves pom-poms. I’m focused on being an enterprise reporter who gets at the truth and does not abide the whitewashing of history or the erasing of what people have said.
And that should command… pic.twitter.com/dc5Ku13UCI

He offered more pompous bragging with veiled anti-Trump and January 6 references:
I’m not gonna platform conspiracy theories, not gonna platform lies, not gonna allow the whitewashing of history...I’m not an opinionist. I’m not an editorialist. I’m not somebody who waves pom-poms, but I am...an enterprise reporter who gets after truth and does not abide by the whitewashing history and erasing of what people have said.
Later, he continued this beating-around-the-bush, esoteric attitude by sounding like he’s giving a political stump speech about how “we’re not just battling to find news and battling for truth,” but “battling a force that’s trying to contaminate and metastasize across all media.”
As a reminder, MeidasTouch started as a group in the mold of the Lincoln Project that even Rolling Stone diagnosed in 2021 as the latest group offering anti-Trump slop, misleading ads, and claims of being nonpartisan (even tried to cancel Joe Rogan).
More recently, MeidasTouch has sent one of their kid correspondents Adam Mockler to CNN Thunderdome and be forced to debate our friend Scott Jennings, claiming he frequently schools Jennings when, in reality, it’s a classic case of projection (like here).
In October of last year, Mockler compared Donald Trump to Hamas and had the gall to argue to Andrew Kolvet’s face that political violence is only a genuine issue on the right.

SCOTT MACFARLANE: Some news to share. And it’s good news. I have a new platform for my independent, unfiltered reporting. Effective immediately, I’m chief Washington correspondent for the MeidasTouch Network. In the beginning of about two or three weeks, I’ll begin as anchor of a daily program called Scott McFarlane Reports in the MeidasTouch and I share the same north star of communicating that when you have news to break or something important to explain, just get to it, straight to the point. As soon as you open the camera and open the microphone, simply, declaratively and conversationally explain what’s happening, explain what it means, put aside the production theater, and the useless bells and whistles. Just get to it. I’m not an opinionist. I’m not an editorialist. I’m far from a politician. I’m an enterprise reporter and have been for a quarter of a century. What I’ll do is bring this enterprise reporting to all the components of the MeidasTouch Network, all the contributors of the MeidasTouch Network and anybody who sees, watches, or hears the Meidas Touch Network. And you’ll still see all of my reporting on my many platforms that you may have been seeing over the past few months or past few years. This is such a critical moment. It’s important when we underscore how significant this moment is. This moment of unique political toxicity and unique political danger in the MeidasTouch and I have long shared this same philosophy, you don’t platform lies. MACFARLANE: I think the values are pretty clear. I hope they come across as consistent. I’ve been championing this for quite some time. I’m not gonna platform conspiracy theories, not gonna platform lies, not gonna allow the whitewashing of history. And that’s the ethos in which I’m tackling reporting and have been for some time now. And I think when we launch the program — the daily program, it’s going to be an informational, newsy program, but going with that value statement that we don’t platform lies and things that are corrosive to our country and corrosive to our democracy. And I’m not an opinionist. I’m not an editorialist. I’m not somebody who waves pom-poms, but I am focused on an enterprise reporter who gets after truth and does not abide by the whitewashing history and erasing of what people have said. And that truly — truly should command attention right now because we’re not just battling to find news and battling for truth. We’re battling a force that’s trying to contaminate and metastasize across all media. That’s where we have a similar approach and what’s more — what’s always appealed to me about MeidasTouch and the Network is that it’s no waste of time. There’s no empty calories, nonsensical, or useless production quirks or bells and whistles or sound effects or post-production that minimizes the time you could spend otherwise just declaratively sharing news. Conversational, efficient, straight to the point.
