Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) has been taken to a hospital after he slipped and fell at his D.C. residence. Wilson cut his head and was transported to the emergency room. “Last evening, Congressman Wilson slipped in the bathroom of his residence in Washington, DC and cut his head. He was taken to the Emergency Room of a local hospital where he received stitches and is under observation to rule out a concussion. He is alert and working from his hospital room,” a statement from Wilson’s office read, according to The Washington Post journalist Kadia Goba. Wilson, 77, a senior member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, was present for two vote series in the House on Tuesday afternoon and was joking with reporters just off the floor. He said Tuesday he had had a busy summer recess; Congress just returned this week from a monthlong break. Wilson told reporters he had just returned from whirlwind official travel to the Philippines, Australia and Europe, including a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, then campaigned back home in South Carolina.
