JUST IN: President Trump Predicts The Winner Of The 2028 Election!
President Donald Trump is already turning his attention toward the 2028 election, expressing strong confidence that Republicans will retain control of the White House—even as his administration faces increasing pressure over rising international tensions.
In a Thursday phone appearance on Fox News, Trump addressed criticism tied to his recent military actions involving Iran. Critics argue those decisions conflict with earlier campaign messaging that emphasized avoiding overseas conflicts. During the same interview, he also weighed in on the upcoming presidential race.
“Well, I would say that it will be a Republican. I really believe that, and I think it’ll be a good one,” Trump said. “I think we have a combination of people that would be very good. You put together a little combination, I think it would be hard to beat the combination.”
While he declined to identify a specific successor, Trump pointed to the idea of a Republican ticket built from a mix of strong figures within the party.
“So I think you can figure that out. But I think it’s going to be… I do believe it’s going to be a Republican. I hope so, because we’ve made so many great strides. It would be a shame to see that thrown away,” he added.

Meanwhile, the outline of the 2028 Republican primary field is beginning to form. Although still evolving, several names have already emerged as leading contenders. JD Vance is broadly seen as an early frontrunner, holding a noticeable lead in preliminary national polling and benefiting from his current role and close alignment with Trump.
Trump has also floated the idea that a future ticket including Vance or Marco Rubio would be “hard to beat,” signaling both as top-tier prospects. Rubio, in particular, continues to strengthen his position within the party and remains firmly among the leading options.
Further down the list, Donald Trump Jr. has posted unexpectedly strong early polling numbers, largely due to name recognition and continued support from the Republican base—though whether he would enter the race remains uncertain. Ron DeSantis, once viewed as Trump’s primary challenger, is still considered a credible candidate, even if his momentum has cooled compared to earlier cycles. Beyond these figures, a wider group of Republicans is beginning to position themselves for a possible run.
