Treaty Oak Revival Fans Throw Trash Cans Down On Crowd At North Carolina Show

And not even during “Boomtown.” You can argue that, despite the monster success over the past few years, Treaty Oak Revival has been one of the most controversial bands in the genre as of late. Beyond the fact that their patented blend of country, rock, and grunge has infuriated many die-hard country purists, their rowdy live shows have also drawn major flak over the past year. At this point, if you’ve been keeping up with the alt. country/southern rock scene in general, I’d be surprised if you haven’t seen a few viral videos of Treaty Oak’s “Boomtown” tradition at every one of their concerts. Simply put, it gets PRETTY wild every night, with frontman Sam Canty and Co. starting the song off by giving fans in the front of the pit a good old beer shower. @zoiebreann love boomtown… even tho i got a black eye from the guitarist throwing a beer lol #treatyoakrevival #concert #fyp #viral #influencer ♬ Boomtown – Treaty Oak Revival As with many good things, however, this has quickly devolved into chaos at quite a few shows. As shown in the TikTok above, there have been quite a few different occasions where drunk audience members have decided to chuck nearly full beer cans recklessly into the crowd, even hitting fellow fans in the head. It’s gotten to the point where Canty himself got hit by a seemingly full (or near-full) beer can at their South Carolina show back in September, which not only gave him a pretty nice gash on his cheek, right above his right eye, but also knocked his microphone straight off the stand during a performance of “No Vacancy.” Fans are now starting to chime in that attending a Treaty Oak Revival concert isn’t as fun as it used to be due to the rowdy antics, and some fans taking it too far is a reason they won’t go to another one of their shows. It’s not great to see, but the other night in Greensboro, North Carolina, a fan captured a moment on film that highlights rowdiness taken too far. During the show at First Horizon Coliseum, a group of fans decided to throw a trash can… yes, a trash can toward the GA/pit crowd. And there may have been more than one incident of trash can throwing… @addie.lingle Me and kimber were SHOCKED to say the least@KIMBERR #treatyoakrevival #fyp #ilovemybf @Treaty Oak Revival ♬ House featuring John Cale – Charli xcx & John Cale Here’s another video, and whether or not it’s the same trash can, or a different one, it’s not the same person: @kobenester #treatyoakrevival #trashcan ♬ original sound – Kobe Nester The video of these fans quickly went viral online, and to say folks were not happy is an understatement. And I have to agree, for good reason. Not only is it very unsafe to launch an object that big at other fans, but it’s also extremely disrespectful. You are ruining someone else’s evening for your own enjoyment, and worse, could cause serious harm. Fans quickly sounded off in the comments, expressing disappointment at seeing TOR fans act in this manner. “Dude this hit me.” “I love Treaty Oak, but that is the absolute worst concert of all time.” “Cups are fine, but this is f**ked up.” “I’m glad I saw Treaty Oak live before their concerts got like this.” “How do you even find this funny?” “I love treaty oak. But the concert experience we had was absolutely horrible.” “Concerts are too dam expensive for this crap.” “Nah, because wft.” “The cops confiscated 5 WRENCHES from people in Knoxville last night. Like wtf people?” “Love treaty but I’d never go to a show bc of the videos I’ve seen. I’ll stick to my happy hippie people at Billy Strings shows lol.” “Me and my man went and left early. It was my first concert, but idk wasnt it for me.” “About died.” “The cups are fine, but that’s pushing it lol.” “And they were worried about the water bottles and wouldn’t give me a cap.” And to make this even worse, according to the user who shared this footage, the trash can wasn’t even thrown during “Boomtown,” it was thrown before “I’m The Worst.” Canty has previously addressed that they never wanted “Boomtown” or other rowdiness during their concerts to get this out of hand, and they are too concerned about fan safety. Sam Canty shared on Tracy Lawrence’s TL’s Roadhouse podcast.” “Also, our thing has always been the beer-shower thing. I’ve been to festivals where they do it. They hold it up over their heads, and they swing it around in a circle, then you just the thing on the ground. The whole thing where it just turned into throwing full cans and cups and stuff [became more dangerous]. It got a little bit more weight to it.” Guitarist Lance Vanley would also tell Lawrence that they were trying their best as a band to put a stop to the beer throwing, so as not to put fans or themselves at risk. “We don’t encourage it. The biggest thing is, when you’re done throwing the liquid around, just put it on the ground.” It’s pretty safe to say these antics cannot continue at this rate, and soon, more injuries will occur among band members or fans. You can still be rowdy and have a good time, but toning it down keeps everyone safe and ensures the audience is enjoying the concert. Just be respectful of one another…The post Treaty Oak Revival Fans Throw Trash Cans Down On Crowd At North Carolina Show first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
