President Trump Considers Removing Top Official, Reports Claim – Potential Replacement Named
Multiple outlets report that President Trump is considering replacing Pam Bondi as attorney general.
According to Semafor, an official announcement on Bondi’s removal is expected soon.
However, the outlet noted that no decision is final and Trump could change his mind about replacing her.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin is among the top candidates rumored to possibly replace Bondi.
“When Trump met EPA boss Lee Zeldin on Tuesday to discuss last year’s California wildfires, Trump also discussed the potential of tapping him for the AG role, a person close to the WH tells me,” POLITICO correspondent Dasha Burns said.
“@CNN and @nytimes also both named Zeldin as the most likely successor,” she added.
A person familiar with the situation tells me that Pam Bondi will be out as AG imminently, confirming scoops from @CNN and @nytimes.

Semafor has more:
It’s unclear what role Bondi may find herself in next — Trump this term has had a habit of shifting his ousted appointees into other roles. Last year, his then-national security adviser was shifted to the role of United Nations ambassador after getting pushed out after a reporter inadvertently was added to a Signal chat about sensitive military operations.
And early last month, former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem got pushed out of her role and reassigned to a new job called the “Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas.”
The president has been reluctant (though not entirely resistant) to firing senior advisers during his second term, in part because he sees ousting members of his team as giving in to his enemies. But Bondi made enough missteps to again prompt Trump to break from his pattern.
According to NBC News, an unnamed source allegedly said Trump has become “more and more frustrated” with Bondi.
Trump and Bondi allegedly got into a “heated confrontation” at the White House last week, the outlet claimed.
In remarks made to NBC News, Trump provided no indication he was frustrated with Bondi.
“Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job,” Trump told the outlet.
Trump is seriously considering replacing Pam Bondi as attorney general because of dissatisfaction with how aggressively the Justice Department has pursued some of his priorities. White House officials have discussed several possibilities as replacement options but Lee Zeldin, the…

NBC News shared further:
Two people familiar with the conversations said Trump has been asking friends and people in his circle about Zeldin as a possible replacement for Bondi — and he’s been doing it more so in the past two weeks. A key consideration is whether a successor to Bondi would be able to be confirmed by the Senate.
There is a perception that Bondi is focused on the wrong things and unable to marshal the department’s resources to reach the president’s goals.
Since the Jeffrey Epstein files saga, Bondi has struggled to regain her footing with the president and deliver wins. Some of his allies have been frustrated by her handling of the files and believe she hasn’t been aggressive enough at delivering wins in investigations against the president’s political foes.
Failing to secure indictments “is a problem for job security with the president,” a former White House official said. “No one is more anxious than Trump to get everything done immediately. He’s at a stage in life where he realizes that time goes fast. He wants action.”
“The president wanted indictments against people he believes broke the law,” a Trump ally added. “There have been some, but that whole thing has not really gone anywhere. I think that’s a factor, but I believe it’s probably just a long time coming.”
