Ben Chapman Announces New Record, Showcases His Sound On Title Track “Feet On Fire”

This could be a big year for Ben Chapman. One of Nashville’s best kept secrets, the sought-after songwriter and formidable guitar shredder has been honing his craft for quite some time now, and it’s clearly paying off. An “if you know, you know” sort of artist, Chapman has built a devoted fan base over the years, but it seems to me that he is worthy of a much larger following. And the only explanation for that I can think of is that there are tons of fans out there that just haven’t found his music yet. As the LaFayette, GA native hits the road hard this spring, though, and he continues to release some of his best music to date, this feels like as good a time as any for his music to reach those fans. And I am confident it will. Chapman recently announced his fourth record Feet On Fire, and if the first two singles are any indication, this record will be an extension of his elite songwriting prowess, and perhaps more importantly, and introduction for many to his diverse sonic capabilities. With an element of improvisation and sonic exploration that blends country, southern rock, blues, and funk into a uniquely swampy and soulful sound, Chapman’s fits in somewhere between Brent Cobb and Daniel Donato on the southern sonic spectrum, and it fills a gap in the scene that will resonate with plenty of fans once it finds their ears. Out of his growing catalog of original music, his latest single might just be the best representation of this notion yet. The album’s title track, “Feet On Fire” is a touring musician’s anthem, as it identifies a certain restlessness that many musicians have when they are at home and away from the grind of the road. On a more relatable level, this song encourages the listener to stay present in the moment as opposed to staying hyper-focused on what’s next. Sonically, though, this track comes out swinging. With tasty riffs and a gritty guitar tone, Chapman leaves the listener no choice but to get carried away in his soulful vocals and intoxicating instrumentation. In a press release circulated by his team at Missing Piece Group, Chapman echoed this sentiment when describing “Feet On Fire” in his own words. “This song hits you in the mouth from the first note. It’s a sonic adventure that reflects my growth as an artist and musician. It started out as a song about always being on the road and not feeling like yourself when you’re sitting still, but as it took shape it gained a deeper meaning. It’s difficult to keep your feet planted in the moment sometimes in a world that places value on whatever comes next.” Written by Chapman along with Bryan Simpson and Anderson East, here is the title track off of his next project Feet On Fire: Absolute heater. Produced by East, who also lent a hand as producer on Chapman’s previous record Downbeat, Feet On Fire is slated for release on May 22 and features 12 original tracks. Feet On Fire Tracklist 1.
