Little House On The Prairie Star Melisa Gilbert Defends Husband Actor Timothy Busfield After He’s Charged With Child S*x Abuse
This is sure to destroy her reputation.
Former child star Mellisa Gilbert is defending her husband actor Timothy Busfield after he was charged with child sex abuse.
Gilbert who starred on Little House on the Prairie as Laura Ingalls, defended her husband in an interview with Good Morning America which is set to air soon.
NBC New York reported more on Gilbert’s soon to be aired interview:
Melissa Gilbert, who is married to actor Timothy Busfield, is speaking out for the first time since her husband was charged with child sex abuse.
In a preview of an interview with Gilbert on “Good Morning America,” Gilbert said the past few months have been “the most traumatizing experience of our lives.”
The full interview is set to air on “Good Morning America” on Monday.
When asked by “GMA” host George Stephanopoulos why she is speaking out now, Gilbert said: “It’s time.”
“Our life as we knew it is done. We are grieving what we had. All of our plans, all of our dreams, all of our ideas, all of our projects,” Gilbert said, according to “GMA.”
“For Tim, it’s done. He’s canceled … even if he’s exonerated, he will always be that guy. The last person in the world who would hurt a child,” she said.
Gilbert continued, “And believe me, if I thought for a second that Tim Busfield hurt a child, he’d have a lot more to worry about than prison.”
Busfield and Gilbert, both actors, married in 2013. Busfield is perhaps most well known for his role as Danny Concannon in “The West Wing.”
In February, Busfield was indicted by a grand jury in New Mexico on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child, the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s office said in a press release at the time.

US Weekly reported more on Busfield’s alleged crime:
A warrant for Busfield’s arrest, obtained by Us, was issued by authorities in New Mexico on January 9, 2026, after he was accused of sexual misconduct involving a minor.
The alleged incidents occurred while Busfield was directing The Cleaning Lady, which aired on Fox from 2022 to 2025. Busfield’s accuser and his twin brother worked as child actors on the show.
According to the criminal complaint, the child involved claimed that Busfield first touched his “private areas” inappropriately when he was 7 years old. He accused the West Wing alum of touching him three or four times.
In a separate incident when the child was 8 years old, Busfield allegedly touched him five or six times.
The boy was “very afraid of Tim and was relieved when he was off set,” according to the affidavit. He also stated that he “was afraid to tell anyone because Tim was the director, and he feared Tim would get mad at him.”
The child’s mother reported to Child Protective Services that the alleged abuse occurred between late 2022 and the second half of 2024, according to the complaint. The child was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety following the alleged incidents.
