Video Shows Iranian Police Shooting At U.S. Black Hawk Helicopter
Not everyone in Iran is opposed to the Iranian regime’s authoritarian rule.
Videos on X show Iranian police officers opening fire on a U.S. Black Hawk helicopter as it attempted to find pilots that ejected from a F-15E fighter jet that was shot down by Iran.
In the video officers are seen firing several rounds at the Black Hawk and in the background you can hear people cheering.
CNN provided more details on the officers’ actions:
A video shared Friday appears to show a group of Iranian police officers shooting at a pair of helicopters flying at low altitude over the town of Charam, in southwestern Iran.
The person filming the video, which was posted on X, says the men are “our police officers” and cheers as they open fire. The car that the men get out of has a green stripe on its side, like Iran’s police cars.
The helicopters appear to be a variant of the US-made Black Hawk helicopter, which both the US and Israel operate. Some specialized Black Hawk variants are commonly used in combat search and rescue missions, like the one currently being carried out over southwestern Iran.
The pair of helicopters in the video are about 55 miles inside Iran, and nearly 200 miles from the nearest US base.
Multiple other videos showing military aircraft operating over Iran on Friday were filmed nearby, apparently taking part in an intense search and rescue effort for the two crew members of an American F-15E which was shot down. One of the crew members has been rescued, sources told CNN, but the status of the other crew member is unclear.

The Military Times reported Iran has offered an award to any Iranian who finds the missing American pilot:
Officials in Iran, meanwhile, called for the search and capture of any surviving crew members of the jet, according to reports by the semi-official ISNA news agency and the Young Journalists Club.
The governor of one of the Islamic Republic’s provinces stated that anyone who captures or kills the crew would receive a special commendation.
Video circulating on social media appeared to show a low-flying U.S. Air Force HC-130 refueling a pair of HH-60G Pave Hawks over Iran while conducting a search for the downed crew.
