A vehicle slammed into a Lao New Year celebration in New Iberia, leaving as many as 20 individuals hurt. Authorities confirmed that the driver, whose identity has not been released, has been taken into custody. According to early findings shared by the local sheriff, the driver was believed to be under the influence and there is no indication at this stage that the act was deliberate. Multiple victims sustained serious injuries in the incident. Emergency responders from Acadian Ambulance reported transporting 11 people by ambulance, while two others required air evacuation.
