Savannah Guthrie Will Return To The Today Show, Here’s When
After being away from the Today Show for over two months, Savannah Guthrie is planning to make a comeback.
Savannah Guthrie, who has been away from the Today Show since January 31, when her mother Nancy went missing, has revealed she plans to return this Monday.
Previously, Guthrie shared that she would not be returning to the show.
Here’s what The Hill reported on Guthrie’s return:
Savannah Guthrie will return to NBC’s “Today” show on Monday, the day after Easter, more than two months after the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.
“It’s hard to imagine doing it because it’s such a place of joy and lightness, and I can’t come back and try to be something that I’m not,” Savannah Guthrie told Hoda Kotb, her former “Today” co-host, on March 27. “But I can’t not come back, because it’s my family. I think it’s part of my purpose right now.”
The Guthrie family last saw Nancy Guthrie at her home in Tucson, Ariz., on the night of Jan. 31. They reported her missing the next morning, after she did not show up to a friend’s house for a virtual church service.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI believe that the elder Guthrie, 84, was taken from her home against her will. However, no substantial leads have been made in the case, despite investigators analyzing multiple purported ransom letters, thousands of tips and evidence from Nancy Guthrie’s house.
In February, the FBI also released footage of an armed and masked man caught on Nancy Guthrie’s home surveillance camera the night of her disappearance. The bureau’s Phoenix field office said the man was 5’9” to 5’10” tall, of average build.
In the surveillance footage, he is wearing a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack, the FBI noted.
Amid the search for her mother, the longtime NBC anchor visited the “Today” set on March 5. She told Kotb that she did so to show her gratitude to those who sent her their support.
The Daily Mail reported it may be a short comeback:

Variety reported that Guthrie also posted an Easter Day message where she contemplated if Jesus ever suffered the feelings she is currently going through:
Savannah Guthrie joined Good Shepherd New York’s digital Easter gathering on Sunday morning to share a message of hope amid her mother’s unsolved abduction.
“Good morning, everybody. Happy Easter,” Guthrie said. “And Easter is happy. It is flowers and pastels and baby bunnies. It is sunshine and joy and hope. It is rebirth and second chances and new life and fresh starts. It is the most important day of the year for all of us who believe, even more than Christ’s birth, more than his death. His resurrection, his second birth into a permanent life, that is what is most crucial to us. His revival and resurrection means the same for us. We celebrate today the promise of a new life that never ends in death. But standing here today, I have to tell you, there are moments in which that promise seems irretrievably far away, when life itself seems far harder than death. These moments of deep disappointment with God, the feeling of utter abandonment for most of us, there will come a time in our life when these feelings hold sway.”
Guthrie explained that she was taught that “Jesus, in his short life, experienced every single emotion that we humans can feel.” However, in her own “season of trial,” Guthrie has “questioned whether Jesus really ever experienced this particular wound that I feel, this grievous and uniquely cruel injury of not knowing, of uncertainty and confusion and answers withheld in those darkest moments.”
The “Today” anchor then said that, after pondering the story of Jesus’ resurrection, she came to realize that maybe he had his own questions for God before his death.
Any thoughts?
