Jamey Johnson Offers Up Hilarious Advice To Pro Golfers Competing In The Masters

I’m not exactly sure that the fine folks at Augusta National Golf Club would allow for pro golfers competing in The Masters to heed this advice from Jamey Johnson. The “In Color” singer has always walked to the beat of his own drum. That’s what has led him to be one of the most respected songwriters and artists in Nashville. He’s always got advice and wisdom to give out to his country music colleagues, and thanks to a new post, we now know that Johnson also feels comfortable handing out tips to… professional golfers. Like many others right now, the country music singer is watching The Masters. And not like many others, Jamey Johnson apparently plays a lot of golf barefoot. Interestingly enough, he’s wondering if players participating in “the tradition unlike any other” either a) would want to try his no-footwear method out or b) be interested in a golf lesson: “How many golfers in the The Masters Tournament do you think golf barefoot? Maybe some of them need a lesson from Jamey Johnson.” I don’t see anyone jumping on that offer… but I’m sure everyone is happy that Jamey Johnson has found a way to save money on socks and golf shoes. For those that don’t know, golfing barefoot can actually help to improve a golfer’s balance and stability. So Johnson isn’t crazy for suggesting it, by any means. I’m sure some pro golfers do actually play barefooted, especially if they are working on a certain part of their swing… or if they are just letting loose. It’s always worked well for John Daly: John Daly with the barefoot hole in one pic.twitter.com/ky0SfK4pWc — Golfballing (@golfballingpod) August 31, 2022 And to be clear, Jamey Johnson doesn’t always play without shoes or socks on. Here’s a video of him teeing off at the Regions Traditions pro-am, and as you can see, he’s sporting golf shoes: @pattongroupatarcrealty Country Music star Jamey Johnson teeing off in the Regions Traditions pro-am #jameyjohnson #countrymusic #golf ♬ original sound – The Patton Group @ ARC Realty Pretty good swing right there. Especially when you consider that Johnson would probably prefer to be playing barefoot. Back when he used to own his own golf course, the country music singer probably could have played without shoes on whenever he wanted to. After all, the owner of the course is the one that usually sets the dress code, and it wouldn’t make sense for Johnson to outlaw barefooted play. And I said “used to” there because… well, Johnson got out of the golf business. In an interview with Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now Podcast, he revealed that he bought – and then sold – a golf course in Mississippi a couple of years ago: “Yeah, you don’t make money on those… My partner and I, we really hoped better for it. But it wasn’t in the cards… After COVID (we sold it). During COVID, it made its own money for the first time… since I was down there.” So to be clear, Jamey Johnson knows enough about golf to own a golf course. That being said, I’m not exactly sure that he’s knowledgeable enough to give a less on to anyone playing in The Masters. Unless it was a lesson focused on the “art of barefoot golfing.”The post Jamey Johnson Offers Up Hilarious Advice To Pro Golfers Competing In The Masters first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
