Mystery Solved? Internet Sleuths Have Identified What They Believe Are The “UFOs” Spotted By Kacey Musgraves

Nah, it was definitely aliens. Internet sleuths have uncovered an explanation for the three “orbs” spotted by Kacey Musgraves on a recent flight from Fort Worth to Nashville – and unfortunately, they don’t believe they were extraterrestrials. The “Follow Your Arrow” singer posted a video to her Instagram story this week about spotting the UFOs from her airplane: “We just watched these orbs, there were three of them. … I was about to lay down and take a nap and I saw these lights that caught my eye that just didn’t look normal. And I watched them for a minute and they were definitely trailing each other.” Kacey estimated that the UFOs were 50,000 feet high, and says they weren’t moving normally: “These orbs were not moving like any craft that we can control. They were intermittently coming and going, forming triangle patterns. They were kind of an orangish color. Sometimes they would get extremely bright and change color, change size.” She says she first noticed the unexplained orbs around Little Rock, but then they ended up following her flight all the way to Nashville. And when she asked the pilots about them, turns out they saw them too – and it wasn’t the first time: “Both pilots were laughing, kind of. And they were like, “Yeah, we have, we’ve seen these every single night and all the other pilots are seeing them too.’ And nobody knows what they are. And one of the pilots said, He said, ‘Yeah, I was in New York last night and I saw them.’ And the other pilot said, ‘Yeah, and I was in Dallas and I saw them also.'” In the video, which Kacey admits isn’t great quality because it was filmed on her iPhone in the dark, the lights can be seen appearing to go up and down in some sort of formation, while also increasing in brightness and disappearing altogether at various times. Country music artist Kacey Musgraves filmed three orb UFOs that followed her plane from Arkansas to Tennessee “They were 50k feet up, we watched them for 45 minutes. These orbs were vehemently coming and going, forming triangle patterns. They were following the plane. We… pic.twitter.com/80H4jGmbc7 — Red Panda Koala (@RedPandaKoala) April 10, 2026 And in yet another twist, Kacey posts a follow-up after returning to Texas – and apparently she saw the same type of orbs on her flight back home. But it doesn’t seem to be bothering her, as much as it is intriguing: “Sh– is weird, but I’m here for it. I am open to it. I’m here for it. … This is only one of many, many, many very strange, unexplainable things that I have seen. It’s been happening for years. No, yeah, no idea what it is.” Of course the video set the internet on fire with theories of what they could be – especially at a time when interest in space is already high given the recent Artemis II mission. But those interested in space and UFOs quickly found an explanation for the orbs…one that had nothing to do with aliens or extraterrestrials. According to some online, the likely explanation is that Kacey was witnessing Starlink horizon flares – basically, light reflecting off the surface of satellites launched by Elon Musk’s satellite internet company. The @KaceyMusgraves UFO sighting video has been identified by @flarkey as being 100% consistent with Starlink horizon flares. Her plane was in the flare zone for the entire flight, and the flares appeared in the right position, moving and fading at the same speed as seen on the… https://t.co/gDPIJOt4Vl pic.twitter.com/kq4ZViPGsL — Mick West (@MickWest) April 10, 2026 The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), which is a government office within the Department of Defense that investigates UFOs, has written on the phenomenon of these flares from Starlink and other satellites: “With the advent of satellite communication mega-constellations … there are currently thousands of artificial satellites in Low Earth Orbit and tens of thousands more planned for launch over the next decade. Satellite flaring is an optical phenomenon which occurs when sunlight reflects off a satellite’s surfaces, such as antennas or solar panels.” Of course some skeptics weren’t convinced by the explanation, pointing out that Kacey said the objects appeared to be about 50,000 feet high and Starlink satellites fly at around 340 miles above earth. But the discrepancy could simply be an optical illusion based on the satellites and their positions on the horizon: Yes the Starlink flares are low to the horizon but not low to the earth. Like in this picture the moon is low – so by your logic it can't be more than a few hundred feet above those mountains, right ? Or is it high above the earth like the Starlink Satellites? pic.twitter.com/2AowuYOptM —
