Investigation Launched Into S*xual Assault Allegation Against Eric Swalwell

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in New York has launched an investigation into Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) after a former staffer accused the Democrat congressman of sexually assaulting her in New York City. “We urge survivors and anyone with knowledge of these allegations to contact our Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373,” a spokesperson from DA Alvin Bragg’s office stated, according to the New York Post. “Our specially trained prosecutors, investigators and counselors are well-equipped to help you in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered manner,” the statement continued. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office said on Saturday it is investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Rep. Eric Swalwell, a day after CNN reported that a former staffer for the congressman accused him of having sex with her when she was unable to consent.… pic.twitter.com/knyHXk37Vx — CNN (@CNN) April 11, 2026 More from the New York Post: The alleged assault took place after an April 2024 charity gala in New York City said the victim, who has not been publicly identified. She claimed she was heavily intoxicated and woke up in her hotel room to find Swalwell assaulting her. “I was pushing him off of me, saying no,” the woman, who no longer worked at Swalwell’s office at the time of the alleged assault, told CNN. “He didn’t stop.” The staffer — one of four women to recently come out with allegations of sexual misconduct by Swalwell — claimed the incident in the Big Apple was not the first time Swalwell had attacked her. The victim was 21 when she began working at Swalwell’s district office in Castro Valley in 2019 and alleged she woke up naked next to the congressman in his hotel room after a night of drinking in September 2019, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle. “Hear it directly from me. These allegations are flat false. And I will fight them,” Swalwell said. More below: Hear it directly from me. These allegations are flat false. Top Democrats Urge Eric Swalwell To End Gubernatorial Campaign NBC News explained further: One of the women in CNN's report, Ally Sammarco, told NBC News that she was 24 years old and trying to find a job on Capitol Hill when she first met Swalwell. She said that the congressman invited her to his office in Washington, D.C., to "meet the team," but when she arrived with her resume, he was there alone. Sammarco said that she had been communicating with Swalwell through Snapchat. She described the messages as "pretty normal" but said they became more flirtatious. After they met at his office, Sammarco said he began sending photos of himself, including a photo of his penis that she said was "totally unsolicited." Sammarco said Swalwell also began going for jogs in her neighborhood and would ask her to come downstairs to chat when he passed by her apartment. “I thought I was the only one that had this experience with him,” she said in an interview. “These people have authority, and they're abusing it ... I want to validate what these women are saying, and I feel like he needs a public reckoning in some way, or he's just going to continue doing this.” Swalwell's office and campaign did not respond to requests for comment on the Manhattan DA's investigation or Sammarco's account. He denied all misconduct allegations in a statement to CNN, calling them "false."
