Riley Green Compares Acting In ‘Marshals’ To Construction Work: “Something That’ll Live On Forever”

Riley Green is proud of his work in the Yellowstone spinoff Marshals, and loves that he’ll always be able to look back on it. The country star with multiple No. 1 Hits stays plenty busy with his music career. But like many singer-songwriters in the genre before him, Green has been intrigued by the thought of trying out an acting career. He fortunately got that opportunity thanks to his friendship with artist and actor, Luke Grimes. Riley Green and the star from Yellowstone and the new spinoff, Marshals, were apparently writing in Nashville when the “Worst Way” singer brought up acting. From then on, the actor behind Kayce Dutton helped Green every step of the way, even reading opposite of Riley when he read for his part. Once he got the part, it was a whole new world for Green. He told Entertainment Tonight that it was a bit of a shock to the system being the “new guy” when he showed up to play a troubled former Navy SEAL named Garrett in Marshals: “I’m so used to going to a show and my name’s on the marquee. Everybody’s either there to see me play or they work for me. When you step on a set, it’s completely different. Not only am I not the guy, but I’m the new guy. To have Luke in my corner for that whole process made it so much easier.” Once he got past the nerves of being the new guy (having his good pal Luke Grimes there helped with that), Riley Green really settled into the acting world. The country music star says the sense of accomplishment he got from the process reminded him of his early days working construction. Not that the work is laborious, but more so the fact that every day, he got to step back and see what he had created until he eventually wrapped: “There was something really fulfilling about being able to go and accomplish something in a window of time. I love being on tour, but that never really ends. The tour might change names every year, but it’s just a constant. We’re always going to be playing shows and traveling around. When you are filming something, there’s a beginning and an end. That was kind of cool. I used to love that about doing construction work, when I built houses for a living. You’d see what you did at the end of the day, and when it’s done, you ride by with whatever girl you are taking on a date and you go, ‘Yeah I built that house right there. I built that deck over there.’ That’s something that’ll live on forever. It’s like recording an album.” As for what’s next for Riley Green in the acting world, he also said in the interview he’s be interested in jumping into the sports genre. If the opportunity presented itself, the country music singer would happily participate in a Varsity Blues remake… and something tells me plenty of people would tune in to that as well. The post Riley Green Compares Acting In ‘Marshals’ To Construction Work: “Something That’ll Live On Forever” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
