Post Malone Got The Stagecoach Crowd Fired Up With Cover Of Toby Keith’s “Courtesy Of The Red, White & Blue”

What a great tribute to the Big Dog Daddy. It’s still hard to accept that the country music world – and the world at large – lost Toby Keith back in February of 2024. The “American Soldier” singer passed away at the age of 62 after a long battle with stomach cancer. Now, we’ve already passed the two year anniversary of his passing – which seems almost unfathomable. Obviously, the spirit of Toby Keith will live on through his music. Tributes to the Big Dog Daddy have basically happened ever since he passed on. This past weekend at Stagecoach, Post Malone brought the house down when, during his headlining finale of the country music festival, he cued up one of Keith’s greatest, patriotic hits. “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.” The song was written by Keith in late 2001, and was inspired by his father’s death in March of 2001, as well as the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States later that year. It was released in May of 2002 as the lead single from his Unleashed album, and eventually peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs in July of 2002. It also reached #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming his biggest solo hit on that chart at the time. One could call it an unofficial anthem of the United States of America, and Post Malone has been known to cover it in the past. During his Big A** Stadium Tour last year, “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” was often included in the set list. And at Stagecoach, Post Malone once again tapped into the powerful, American track… and it looked like quite the scene: View this post on Instagram There’s no doubt that the Big Dog Daddy would be proud. Chances are that Post Malone will keep that cover in his holster throughout the summer as America celebrates it’s 250th birthday.
