“Jurassic Park” Star Makes Stunning Announcement About Blood Cancer Diagnosis
Actor Sam Neill battled blood cancer quietly for years. He tried many different types of treatment and medication, but his lymphoma stopped responding. Things looked dire for the Jurassic Park star until he made a bold decision. Sam knew traditional therapy would not cure him, so he tried something new. On April 27, 2026, the 78-year-old actor announced on Instagram that he is cancer-free. He hopes to use his platform for advocacy to help other cancer patients get access to alternative treatments if they want to try them.

Sam Neill Doesn’t Like to Talk About His Cancer
He explained in his post that while talking about his cancer isn’t his favorite thing, Sam Neill felt it was important to share information with others.
“No one knew exactly what we could expect . I think I was first out of the block and i think the term for me was ‘Patient Zero.’ From now on please address me as Mr Zero,” Sam wrote. “This turned out to be great good fortune for me . And last week I had all the scans etc , and I am pleased , indeed delighted to say that there is no cancer in my body . All clear . We are all amazed.”
Sam Neill went on to explain that he wasn’t posting to boast about his own cancer; he wanted to inform others.
“Treatments like this — CAR-T therapies and others coming through in a rapidly changing medical world — I hope to be available to everyone who needs them in Australia & NZ (and worldwide ). This is what I am advocating , along with The Snowdome Foundation, to push for exactly that,” he shared.
Fans loved hearing the news.
“Oh wow this could be a game changer for cancer care all over the world. Delighted to hear of your recovery and unsurprised to hear of your courage in advocating for others,” a fan wrote.
