“This Can’t Be Real” – Billy Ray Cyrus Teases A New Song Dropping Next Month And It’s…Something

My poor achy breaky ears… Of course Billy Ray Cyrus was a heartthrob in the ’90s after dropping his hit song “Achy Breaky Heart,” and people often forget that he actually had several other great songs like “Words By Heart,” “Could’ve Been Me,” “In the Heart of a Woman,” and “Some Gave All.” Honestly, he had a lot of hits. These days, though, it seems that his voice ain’t what it used to be…and that’s putting it mildly. You probably remember his disastrous performance during President Donald Trump’s inaugural ball last year, when not only did he face technical issues but he also had people concerned for his well being – and his voice. It’s clear that time (or something else…) has taken its toll on Billy Ray’s vocal cords. His voice is much deeper and gravelly, and most of the time he ends up talking rather than singing these days. It sounds more like Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption 2 than a country superstar. And hey, kudos to Billy Ray for continuing to put himself out there, but at some point it might be time to hang it up…and after hearing a teaser for his latest song, fans apparently think he’s getting close to that time. Billy Ray shared a clip of the new song called “It’s Alright,” which is dropping on June 5. And it’s…well, it’s something. @billyraycyrusIt’s Alright coming June 5♬ original sound – Billy Ray Cyrus Yeah, honestly I don’t even really know what to say. Between the monotone voice and the sing-talking it’s hard to believe that’s the same guy who sang “Achy Breaky Heart.” And that’s before we even get into the lyrics: “I’ve been trying to make a new plan You’ve been running around town, heard you got a new man And my knees so weak I can hardly stand But I’ll get where I’m going, I don’t give a damn Cause it’s alright It wasn’t the first time But it’s alright When you used to be mine I got so lost in you I’ve been wondering where I’ve been” I mean, what are we doing here? These lyrics make “Achy Breaky Heart” look like “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” Needless to say, the reaction to the teaser has been brutal – so let’s go to the comments: “It’s a little monotone but other than that it’s terrible.” “This is gonna go aluminum!!” “Applebee’s is gonna play the S–T outta this” “I thought this was somehow an Arthur Morgan edit.” “How about you unrelease this June 5th, thanks.” “Genuinely thought this was Ron White singing a parody” “It’s okay to retire sir” “This might bring in tens, potentially hundreds of dollars” “This is good on mute” “This can’t be real” “Sounding bad on purpose so we don’t think it’s AI… bold strategy” “You know, some people’s music ages with the artist’s vocals and the adjust their songs to fit their new style and this song is a great example of this not happening” “I feel like more alcohol than thought was put into this one. Sorry bub.” Of course Billy Ray probably doesn’t care what people are saying about him these days. He’s currently dating actress Elizabeth Hurley, one of the hottest women on the planet, so I’m honestly not sure why he would even bother making music at all. Focus on your smoking hot supermodel girlfriend. Give the microphone and your voice a rest for a while. Maybe it’ll come back someday, but right now…yeah, it’s rough. The post “This Can’t Be Real” – Billy Ray Cyrus Teases A New Song Dropping Next Month And It’s…Something first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
