Clint Eastwood Celebrates His 96th Birthday As His Son Confirms Retirement
Clint Eastwood’s long career may have reached its final chapter. After decades as one of Hollywood’s most recognizable actors and directors, the screen legend appears to have stepped away from filmmaking, according to comments from his son, Kyle Eastwood, who claims Clint Eastwood has, indeed, retired.
The update comes after Eastwood’s 2024 film Juror No. 2, which already felt like a quiet closing note for a career that shaped generations of moviegoers. According to Consequence, Kyle Eastwood said in a newly surfaced interview that his father is now retired, adding that he feels grateful for the chance to work with him on several films.

Kyle Eastwood spoke warmly about his memories of working with his father. He said he had many fond memories from those experiences and felt lucky to take part in several projects with him. His words offered a personal glimpse into a family bond that also became part of Hollywood history.
“I have many fond memories of working with him,” he praised. “Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old. But I was very lucky to be able to work with him on quite a few films. It was a great experience for me.”
The comment also gave fans one of the clearest signs yet that Clint Eastwood retired from active film work. Though Eastwood has not made a major public retirement announcement himself, Kyle’s statement carried weight because of his close relationship with the actor and director.

Eastwood turned 96 on May 31, 2026, with 40 films as a director to his name. His career includes Best Picture winners Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby, both of which also earned him Oscars for Best Director. Those films helped secure his place as one of the rare stars who left a major mark both in front of and behind the camera.

His last on-screen role remains Cry Macho, which he starred in and directed in 2021. Juror No. 2 followed in 2024 and may now stand as his final directing effort. While rumors have suggested he could still pursue one more project, little has surfaced to support that possibility. For fans who grew up watching him move from Westerns to crime dramas and later prestige filmmaking, the news that Eastwood retired feels like the end of a defining Hollywood era.
