Here’s Which Country Music Artists The Atlanta Braves Are Listening To In The Locker Room
The Atlanta Braves locker room is always welcoming of country music.
Some members of the Braves recently sat down with us on the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast. Third baseman Austin Riley, utility player Kyle Farmer, and the voice of the Braves Radio Network, Ben Ingram, all carved time out of their 162-game schedule to talk about their favorite country artists, how the locker room is full of “Ella Fellas,” and how the Atlanta Braves and country music have always been intertwined.
Austin Riley talked to us about how convenient it is for him that baseball season ends right when hunting season begins, Kyle Farmer (a Georgia native) discussed how fitting it is for him to be a member of the Braves at this point in his career, and Ben Ingram also gave some insight on how he takes care of his golden radio voice.
But the through line of our conversation always came back to country music. Austin Riley told us that any type of country is good with him, but he does have some favorites:
“I’m a big fan of Luke Combs. Pretty much everything that he sings is good. I like some Jason Aldean, I like a little bit of everything. Zach Top and Ella Langley too. All country is good with me.”

Luke Combs is evidently a very popular choice in the Braves locker room.
Kyler Farmer said that he always finds time to work in country music, and he’s often partial to some of the greatest hits from the golden era of country:
“I’m listening to Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen. Kind of your basic country, whoever is hot right now. ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ is still one of my favorite songs. My walkout song is ‘Still Going Down’ by Morgan Wallen…
I’ll also hit up Spotify and go 90s country. Kind of play back the old ones. ‘Dust on the Bottle’ by David Lee Murphy, ‘That Ain’t My Truck’ by Rhett Atkins, ‘Chattahoochee’ by Alan Jackson, and ‘Watermelon Crawl’ by Tracy Byrd. When me and my buddy have one too many cocktails, we play ‘Watermelon Crawl.'”
Sounds like Kyle Farmer knows his stuff.
That likely explains why he and center fielder Michael Harris III are considered the “AUX masters” of the locker room. That’s at least what the Braves third baseman told us when he discussed what time of day the team usually cues up country:
“We listen to a lot of country. It kind of depends on the time of day. Early on, it’s country. As we get closer to the game time, we kind of get into our mode and we get some upbeat stuff going.”
Makes sense.
But all in all, the entire team likes to listen to country. Farmer says there’s guys all throughout the roster and the club house that partake in the genre:
“Michael Harris III loves country music, Austin Riley loves country music, obviously. Matt Olson too. I think it’s a good clubhouse with a lot of guys who kind of love really anything. But country music seems to be a theme around here, which is good.”
Country music will definitely be the theme for Braves Country Fest.
The celebration of country music – which takes place on June 13 at the Home of the Atlanta Braves – will feature a stacked lineup including Cody Johnson, Ella Langley, Ernest and Mackenzie Carpenter. The star-studded lineup playing inside Truist Park makes for a can’t-miss event.
