Florida Georgia Line Officially Returns At CMA Fest
They’re back…
The past few years have been nothing short of a comeback story for country music. Experiencing the most commercial and critical success in what feels like decades, we’ve seen the indie/alternative scene rise to prominence after being spearheaded by the likes of Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson and more, some of the greatest bands, such as The Red Clay Strays, Turnpike Troubadours and Flatland Cavalry garner national attention and traditional acts such as Zach Top and Ella Langley dominate the mainstream.
As it is with seemingly everything, however, nature has to balance itself. This, unfortunately, came with the inevitable return of the kings of “bro country,” Florida Georgia Line.
It should go without saying at this point that FGL was once one of the most successful duos in the history of the genre, scoring nothing short of era-defining hits in the 2010s with the likes of the diamond-certified, “Cruise,” along with other smashes such as “This Is How We Roll,” “Stay” and the Bebe Rexha collaboration, “Meant to Be.”
Of course, Florida Georgia Line remain as the poster boys for “bro country,” the era in the 2010s which was defined by the most shallow lyrics known to man, Nickelback-lite production and ultimately a whole lot of clichés that the genre still gets flack for such as heavy emphasis on drinking, tan legs swinging off of pickup truck beds and pretty much anything you associate with the worst country music has to offer.
After what felt like months of speculation, rumors and both Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard teasing a potential reunion after their nasty split thanks to their first performance in four years together back in April at Country Radio Seminar, they added more fuel to the fire on the eve of CMA Fest this week.
The group’s official Instagram account has remained dormant since May 26, 2023, when Brian Kelley used the duo’s account to promote his then-upcoming single “See You Next Summer.” But now, three years since that last post, there are signs of life once again. Fans quickly noticed that their social media accounts have changed their profile pictures to a new logo that simply says “FGL LFG,” which obviously stands for “Let’s F—ing Go.”

And fans who were signed up to receive text messages and emails about the group also received an automated message:
“Turns out, some things are just better together. Much more to come. FGL LFG.”
Night one of CMA Fest was nearly wrapped up, with Ella Langley, Tucker Wetmore, Jelly Roll (in a surprise appearance), Deana Carter, Gretchen Wilson and more taking the stage at Nissan Stadium, and, for a moment, it all seemed like the duo was not going to fulfill the promise of a reunion.
That all changed when the lights dimmed and none other than legendary ring announcer, Michael Buffer, took center stage and began listing all of the duo’s accomplishments, including their 19 #1 hits, 13 billion streams and two diamond-certified singles, before introducing Kelley and Hubbard, who were positioned on two separate sides of the stadium.

The pair would begin the set with “Round Here,” performing the first half of the song on separate sides of the stadium before making their official reunion by meeting in the middle of the stadium to wrap up the song. Once together on stage in front of the packed house at Nissan, Hubbard would address the crowd, arm around Kelley, and officially declare that Florida Georgia Line is back.
“CMA Fest, it feels so good to be here tonight. It feels so good to be here with my brother. And listen, we got three things we want to say tonight. First of all, God is good. Second of all, life is short. And most importantly, your boys… we back baby!”
The two would then immediately launch into “Cruise,” with the center stage at Nissan Stadium dramatically rising above the crowd, marking the duo’s official return.

While they have yet to announce an official album or tour yet, it’s pretty safe to assume that you can expect that in the coming months. Whether you like it or not, Florida Georgia Line is is back. The question that remains now is “How will they fare after the split?” Judging by the crowd’s reaction at Nissan Stadium, I fear we might be in for a wave of bro-country 2.0.The post Florida Georgia Line Officially Returns At CMA Fest first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
