‘Don’t Look Down’: Here’s What Austin Metcalf’s Father Said To Karmelo Anthony After Sentencing

The trial is over, with Karmelo Anthony sentenced to three and a half decades behind bars after a jury convicted him of killing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a high school sporting event last year. But for Metcalf’s parents, the story is far from over. And his closest relatives were on hand for Tuesday’s guilty verdict and sentencing, offering some choice words for the convicted killer when it was all over. As Breitbart reported: MaryAnn Martinez, Texas Bureau Chief for the Daily Mail, announced on X that Jeff Metcalf furiously addressed Karmelo Anthony in the courtroom, repeatedly demanding that he look him in the eye. “We were robbed, don’t look down, of all of these things,” said Jeff Metcalf. “I said from day one, this was never about race. Please don’t politicize it. But what did you choose to do, both. It’s about right and wrong. We’re all humans. We all bleed the same color.” “You’re free to make choices all you want, but you’re not free from those consequences. You will face those consequences starting today,” he reportedly added. “People think that grief is sadness but it’s not. IT’S RAGE!!!” Metcalf reportedly slammed his hands on the table as he continued to express his “pure unfiltered rage.” “You failed your parents; you failed yourself, and you failed society. You don’t belong in this community,” he reportedly said. “You’re going to prison. You can’t even look me in the eyes right now, but you can stab my fucking son in the heart.” Reports about his outburst sparked a wave of social media posts expressing support for the grieving father: This is the difference in behavior. Look at how Karmelo supporters outside the courtroom act and look at how the father of a murdered child acts. He's in so much pain and he still holds the ONE individual accountable, not an entire race. — Whitney (@Superwhitney) June 10, 2026 But social media was also filled with evidence of those protests in favor of the convicted killer because his skin was the right color and Metcalf’s wasn’t: We have lost our minds. When I see protesters outside the Collin County Courthouse chanting “FUCK WHITE LIVES!” after Karmelo Anthony’s sentencing for murdering Austin Metcalf, my soul grieves. This isn’t justice. This isn’t “community.” This is demonic hatred — plain and simple. All lives are made in the image of God. Every single one. Black, White, Brown — doesn’t matter.  Celebrating the loss of any innocent life, or cheering on evil because of skin color, is straight from the pit of hell. And here’s the truth they don’t want you to say out loud: When Black conservatives, Christians, or truth-tellers like me call this out, we get labeled “traitors,” “Uncle Toms,” or “betrayers of the community.” Let them talk. I’d rather be disliked by some in my own community than stand before a Holy God and be found guilty of excusing evil, hating my neighbor, or twisting justice for racial points. My allegiance is to Christ first — not color, not tribe, not political pressure. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil…” (Isaiah 5:20) I choose truth over tribe. Light over darkness. God over man. Who else is tired of the hate? Drop a if you stand for real justice — not skin color. Metcalf’s mother and brother were among the others who spoke publicly in response to the jury’s decision, as Fox News reported: Hunter Metcalf, Austin’s twin brother, was in the courtroom for the first time and read a victim impact statement.  “I just want some respect if you could look me in the eye,” he said to Anthony, who looked up at him.  “I want you to realize how much pain you caused me and my family,” he said. “You let the devil take over you in the moment.” “Now I want everything taken from you,” he said, according to FOX 4. “You took everything from me. I wake up every morning and his door is still shut.” WATCH: Criminal defense attorney says Karmelo Anthony sentence ‘not surprising’ A montage of pictures of Austin and Hunter growing up played on the screen. Austin’s mother, Megan, said all she has left of Austin is videos. She described how she packed her son a snack before the track meet and sent him off, not realizing it would be the last time she ever saw him, according to FOX 4.  “You may have been sentenced to 35 years behind bars. You should feel lucky,” she told Anthony. “I’ve been sentenced to a lifetime without my son.” Here’s some additional coverage of the statements from Metcalf’s loved ones: This is a Guest Post from our friends over at WLTReport.
