ABC Praises Michelle Obama's "Presidential Speech" at Obama Center Dedication

Instead of covering a bombshell report about Pakistani grooming gangs in the UK or how the foiled UFC terror plot was led by an illegal alien, the liberal media outlets spent Thursday running hours-long coverage of the opening of former President Barack Obama’s Presidential Center in Chicago, the ugliest museum in history. The dedication was livestreamed by ABC News Live, and not ten seconds after Michelle Obama concluded what felt like an interminable speech, anchor Kyra Phillips and Washington Post journalist Mary Jordan wasted no time tripping over themselves to pay homage to the former First Lady. “Didn’t it sound like a presidential speech?” Phillips gushed. “You know, so many people wanted her to run for president.” The American body politic has suffered enough without enduring another Obama campaign. But Phillips still acted like Michelle had done something unprecedented, like no politician’s wife has spoken publicly before: She started out talking as the loving wife about their marriage, how much she admires her husband, how he dealt with so much. And then, of course, a lot of moments there taking a dig at President Trump, but then bringing it all together, explaining exactly what this center represents and how it symbolizes in so many ways, what her husband tried to do and did do for this country.     Jordan framed Michelle’s “presidential speech” as groundbreaking: You know, there's not that many moments that a former First Lady gets an audience like this, that she's center stage. This is a big moment for Michelle Obama. She - and she used it to tell people what's on their - what's on her mind.  Michelle throws herself in front of every camera she can manage - perhaps more than Barack has over the past few years. She does very little outside the public eye, and she clearly likes it that way. In November of 2025, she published The Look, a book about “how she uses the beauty and intrigue of fashion to draw attention to her message,” according to its Amazon page. As commentator Matt Walsh put it, “she’s published Look At Me: The Book.” But according to ABC, there are “not that many moments that a former First Lady gets an audience like this.” Contrary to what ABC portrayed, Michelle used her speech to insult Trump and his policies, even though they had nothing to do with the Obama Presidential Center. ABC didn’t mind – Jordan supported it: She even mentioned ‘dreamers,’ who are the kids of immigrants who are born in this country and are legal, but there's been movement in the Trump administration to make them illegal... She made Barack Obama tear up. He was, like, wiping away tears and she got emotional and she just said, you know, 'Thank you. You were always calm. You were always decent. You did the best-- you know, what you thought was best for all Americans.'  The Obamas left office a decade ago, but ABC is still in as much love with them today as they were back then. Didn't it sound like a presidential speech? You know, so many people wanted her to run for president. And she's like, 'No, I'm going to be with my husband, participate in advocacy, be there for my girls.' Mary Jordan, she started out talking as the loving wife about their marriage, how much she admires her husband, how he dealt with so much.  And then, of course, a lot of moments there taking a dig at President Trump, but then bringing it all together, explaining exactly what this center represents and how it symbolizes in so many ways, what her husband tried to do and did do for this country. MARY JORDAN: You know, there's not that many moments that a former First Lady gets an audience like this, that she's center stage. This is a big moment for Michelle Obama. She - and she used it to tell people what's on their - what's on her mind. She picked all kinds of things that talked about her husband, talked about her view and the Obamas' view. And I think the headline, probably, for my ears was inclusion. You know, she said at one point, 'No one has the right to sit in judgment about who's more American.' And then she talked about immigrants.  And you could see the crowd, kind of, really rallied behind her, that it's the beating heart of America. And she even mentioned dreamers, who are the kids of immigrants who are born in this country and are legal, but there's been movement in the Trump administration to make them illegal.  So it was, you know, we've been hearing that she was eager to use this moment in the sun to give people who are upset about certain things going on now their due.  But it was also nice, like you said, that she made Barack Obama tear up. He was, like, wiping away tears and she got emotional and she just said, you know, 'Thank you. You were always calm. You were always decent. You did the best-- you know, what you thought was best for all Americans.' You can bet that that speech is going to be in the Center, and you can replay that when you go to the Obama library. (…)
