We haven’t heard much since then (except that it was still happening in 2024 and was misreported to be a movie)… until now. Today, during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the streamer announced that the show will head to a television near you sometime in 2027 and provided a first look to attendees. They also provided an official logline (per TheWrap), which goes as follows: New York City, 1994—Five years after the Ghostbusters took the Statue of Liberty for a walk, a new wave of supernatural terror hits the Big Apple, forcing a group of scrappy, young New Yorkers—untrained, underappreciated and kinda sorta responsible for the problem—to put on proton packs, face their fears and bust some ghosts. During the presentation, the creative team shared (again via TheWrap) that the events of the series will be canon in the Ghostbusters universe, and that the episodes will be both scary and funny. They also shared that the younger Ghostbusters featured in the show also have a “terror puppy,” because demon dogs are cute? Jack Quaid also appears to be voicing an older member of the Ghostbusters team, though Netflix and Sony didn’t officially say that. The first look images are impressive as well, and will likely please many a Ghostbuster fan as we wait for more news about Ghostbusters: Night Shift.
