Sounds like a good old fashioned heartbreaker. Megan Moroney is currently on the road for her extensive Cloud 9 tour, but she got a solid two weeks off between the end of June and start of July, and it looks like she’s been taking full advantage of her time off, hitting the beach with friends this past week… and she sent the internet into a frenzy with her bikini photos. But today, she shared a very different post, teasing a new song that finds her reflecting on a lost love and how nothing she’s seen, as incredible as it all was, has compared to him: “I’ve been to Times Square on New Year’s Eve, Midnight confetti falling down on me, I’ve been in Vegas, I stayed in one of those, Sky high presidential suites, What a dream, I’ve heard the voice of Elvis from Graceland, Down the hall, I’ve seen the Smoky Mountains in the fall, But I’d take your eyes over every sky in Southern California, I’d trade a thousand Georgia nights for your kisses in the morning, I could go anywhere, I swear around the world and go see all there is to see, But it’s always gonna be you and me” I already love the sound of those one, it feels right in her wheelhouse in terms of the kinds of sad, more stripped back simple songs she does so well, and I can’t wait to hear the full version hopefully sooner rather than later. Megan released Cloud 9 in February, and so it would seem a little soon for her to already be putting out to new music, but maybe this is apart of some sort of deluxe edition of the album. She has already released some bonus tracks, but not technically a deluxe, so we’ll see… it could just be a one-off single, or maybe she won’t even be released it anytime soon, but I hope that’s not the case because I really like this one.
