They say that New York is the city that never sleeps. You never know what you might find on the streets of NYC. Sometimes, New Yorkers get a bad rap for being rude and not having time for anyone but themselves. But we know that’s not the truth of all city dwellers, and many have beautiful, kind, and loving hearts. An Instagram reel went viral recently after a Walgreens went out of business and dumped bags of unsold greeting cards on the sidewalk. A group of women gathered around the trashed cards and began to organize and exchange them among themselves in the sweetest act of kindness. The women gathered around and happily helped each other find wedding, birthday, get well, and religious cards for each other. No one had to do it; they genuinely wanted to, and their kindness toward each other made many other strangers on the internet smile. People immediately keyed in on the sweet things the women said ti each other. “’We’re really getting to know each other.’ I LOVE these moments of bonding with strangers over trivial things, someone wrote. “’God, anyone into God?’ So sweet,” another person shared. “I love the camaraderie of looking for what each other needs,” a comment reads. There is nothing like New York. “These sidewalk *sales* were my favorite. I still have stationery from a trash day like this one,” another person wrote. This follower noticed immediately that the greeting cards attracted a very specific group of people. “Of course, it’s all women because it’s only women who seem to send cards and remember people’s birthdays and take care of everyone,” they wrote.
