A familiar face just returned to the Fox & Friends curvy couch. Steve Doocy was back inside Studio M this week, temporarily rejoining Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade while Lawrence Jones took time away from the show. For longtime viewers, it was a welcome reunion. Doocy spent nearly three decades helping build the morning show before moving into a new coast-to-coast role last year. On July 28, during that short studio return, Doocy put a blunt hindsight question to President Trump about Dr. Anthony Fauci. Trending Politics News reports that Doocy told his Facebook followers he was filling in for Jones for only a couple of days. He said the brief return gave him a chance to catch up with Earhardt, Kilmeade and the Studio M crew. His update included a photo with the two hosts and a joke about catching up over an “insanely expensive” cup of coffee. The reunion put the familiar three-host lineup back together inside Fox’s New York headquarters. Doocy also made clear that the appearance was not a reversal of his current arrangement. He planned to resume his coast-to-coast assignments the following week, working away from the network’s Manhattan studio. The short homecoming was his first extended run on the famous couch in more than a year, and it placed him back in the interviewer’s chair for President Trump’s comments about Fauci. Fox News Media announced Doocy’s changed role in May 2025. Instead of reporting to the New York studio full-time, the founding co-host began appearing from cities and towns across the country while remaining part of Fox & Friends. The move allowed Doocy to base himself in Florida and report throughout the Southeast, Midwest and beyond. Fox noted at the time that he had joined the network at its 1996 launch and became a Fox & Friends co-host when the program debuted in 1998. That history is why seeing him back beside Earhardt and Kilmeade felt like more than an ordinary guest-host substitution. Doocy may now spend much of his time taking the show to the rest of America, but for a couple of mornings, one of the most recognizable faces in cable news was right back where viewers remembered him.
