J-School Slop: Columbia Taps Alfonsi, Pelley as ‘Journalists in Residence’

Screenshot via NYT/Snapstream On Monday morning, Columbia Journalism School reminded the public of how much it’s a waste of time and money as a black hole of far-left propaganda by declaring that they were “pleased to welcome” former CBS’s 60 Minutes correspondents Scott Pelley and Sharyn Alfonsi as “Journalists in Residence” for the upcoming academic year.Dean Jelani Cobb — who appears regularly on MS NOW to offer deranged, hate-filled hot takes against half the country — made the announcement as something they’re “excited and honored” to have happen, adding “[t]heir distinguished track records in investigative reporting highlight the amazing opportunity our students will have to learn from them.”For their part, Alfonsi said it’s “an extraordinary privilege, especially at a time when deep, rigorous and fearless reporting has never been more vital,” and she was ready “to work with the next generation of journalists who are eager to ask the tough questions that hold power accountable.”Pelley offered predictable doomsday porn in the press release about this being “a critical time for a free press,” so he was “honored to join Sharyn in that vital cause.”Columbia Journalism School also oversees the Pulitzer Prizes, which this year included a bevy of anti-Trump screeds masquerading as insightful, powerful, and unique journalism.Speaking of Pelley, the New York Post’s Alex Steigrad reported on Sunday that former 60 Minutes boss Bill Owens supposedly “wants to launch a rival news series with Scott Pelley and other correspondents and producers who have recently exited the iconic show.”She expressed skepticism about its prospects as, in addition to the eye-popping $50 million he would be seeking to “bankroll everything from staffing and production to marketing and legal,” whoever he’d bring on “would likely be forced to take a drastic pay cut.”Further, she said “a source close to Owens denied the plans.”It wouldn’t be entirely surprising, given the self-righteousness crammed inside the craniums of these liberal, elitist journalists.
