Will the Allegations of Child Sex Trafficking Ever Catch Up With Matt Gaetz?
Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz is being investigated by the House Ethics Committee for‚ among other things‚ sex-trafficking a child.
The representative got bad news today when it was reported that Joel Greenberg‚ Gaetz’s former close friend‚ is cooperating with the committee. Greenberg is currently in prison for sex-trafficking a child and using taxpayer money to pay for sex.
Gaetz does not want Greenberg to cooperate with the House Ethics Committee because Greenberg previously told federal investigators that he witnessed Gaetz having sex with a 17-year-old child — in other words‚ committing statutory rape. Moreover‚ in a pardon request to then-President Donald Trump‚ Greenberg also stated that he and Gaetz had both engaged in sexual activity with the minor. “On more than one occasion‚” said Greenberg‚ “this underage individual was involved in sexual activity with several of the other females at the house‚ myself and also the congressman from Florida’s panhandle.”
Making the allegations even sicker‚ the Daily Beast has reported that Gaetz sent Greenberg numerous Venmo payments that were subsequently sent to young women. One $900 Venmo payment from Gaetz to Greenberg was labeled “hit up ___” and referenced the teen‚ who had by then turned 18.
The same outlet has recently reported that Gaetz has in confidence told some of his fellow House members that the true reason for his crusade against former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy — which resulted in McCarthy’s ouster — was the ethics investigation.
Kevin McCarthy also seems to be of the same belief. In December‚ McCarthy told reporters: “We all know it’s the ethics complaint on Gaetz…. He’s doing everything to make sure it doesn’t come out‚ and he doesn’t care about anything else. People study that type of crazy mind‚ right? Mainly‚ the FBI.”
Yesterday‚ McCarthy went as far as to say that he believes “Gaetz will have a hard time being a member of Congress and staying out of jail too.”
“I think‚” said McCarthy‚ “people see now how far Matt Gaetz will go and the fear he has of what’s in the ethics complaint.”
