Texas Purple Heart Riders Association: Honoring Wounded Veterans on Purple Heart Day
BELTON, Texas (KWTX) – The Texas Purple Heart Riders Association rode from Belton to Lampasas for Purple Heart Day to raise awareness for wounded and fallen veterans.
This is the second annual year the association held its Purple Heart Day ride. To receive a Purple Heart, a member of the United States military must have either died or been wounded in action. All members of the Purple Heart Riders Association have been awarded Purple Hearts.
The Texas Purple Heart Riders Association’s State President, Hot Rod, turned to VFW Post 10377 in Belton to begin their ride. Post commander, John Burford, said he was eager to help.
“I will never turn a veteran down,” Burford said. “I will never say no. No matter what veteran comes here, if they want something it’s always yes at this post. Always.”
