Bread Proofing Comparison: Toaster Oven vs. Room Temperature vs. Dehydrator

In this video we're doing a side-by-side bread proofing comparison. I'll be evaluating 3 methods of rising dough for bread making: Room temperature, food dehydrator, and toaster oven. Heat to 100 degrees F. Mix yeast into liquid and let bloom for 10 minutes. When yeast mixture is foamy, add flour, dough conditioner, sugar, and salt. Mix with electric mixer and dough hook for 3 minutes, or knead by hand. Then add butter, and mix for another 8 minutes. Transfer dough onto floured surface, and form into a tight ball. Pat with a little more flour if too sticky to handle. Dough should still be somewhat sticky. Place in greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for 60 minutes. Punch down the dough and transfer back onto floured surface. Press out into rectangle and roll with fingers into a tight loaf. Place in greased bread pan and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for 60 more minutes. Remove plastic wrap and bake in an oven pre-heated to 350 degrees F, for 40-45 minutes (until internal temp reaches 190). ------------------------------ 00:00 - Intro 01:53 - Making Dough 03:13 - First Rise 05:22 - Second Rise 06:54 - Baking 09:07 - Tasting 11:39 - Conclusion ------------------------------ Great Lakes Country (formerly known as Great Lakes Prepping) is a Michigan-based YouTube channel that focuses on all things DIY, such as cooking, hunting, gardening, outdoor projects, prepping, and lots of other stuff.
