Wyatt Flores Brings Out Charles Wesley Godwin For “The Jealous Kind” Cover During Headlining Ryman Debut

What a duo. Over the weekend, Wyatt Flores made his headlining Ryman Auditorium debut- topping off an incredible 2024. The "Welcome To The Plains" singer had a standout year, and closing it out by playing the original Grand Ole Opry house is one helluva way to close out his stellar year. And he closed it out with a bang. "Ryman you’ve been a dream of mine for so long and I can’t believe we have another night of playing! Thank you to everyone who came for night one and making it such a special night! Thank you to Lance Roark for kicking the show off with a bang, and thank you to The Great Divide for being one of my biggest influences in music and my heroes in life. I truly wish I could fully put into words the feelings I was having standing on that stage. Night two is happening soon. I’m ready to go back to church. Love y’all so much. See you soon!" https://www.instagram.com/p/DDkmtntxgqD/?img_index=5 While Flores lit up the stage from start to finish, he also brought out some special guests to help him burn it down. Kicking things off with The Castellows, the group performed their single "Sober Sundays." Later in the evening, Flores surprised guests again, bringing out Charles Wesley Godwin for what would be a standout moment from the night. Instead of performing one of Flores' songs together, given they do not have a single together, they opted for an all-time classic- "The Jealous Kind." Last year, Godwin released a stunning cover of the Christ Knight single as part of his Live From The Church EP, and fans quickly fell in love with his rendition of the song. Later in the year, Flores and CWG were on the road together and shared a video of them strumming the track in a green room.  “'The Jealous Kind' by Chris Knight. Wyatt Flores and I had a little free time before last week’s show in Spokane. Enjoy!” The duet quickly became one of my personal favorites. Everything about their acoustic take on the track is near perfection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=75&v=RuSexj9egAI&embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whiskeyriff.com%2F&source_ve_path=MjM4NTE I have been keeping my fingers and toes crossed that one day, we will get this version from Flores and CWG on streaming platforms. While that wish is still on the wishlist, we did get another stellar performance of this song from The Ryman. The moment was genuinely full circle as CWG had Wyatt Flores open up for him during his headlining debut, and so Wyatt was tipping his hat in thanks toward the West Virginia native inviting him on stage to sing with him. "I can't say I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him letting us open up the stage for him last year. So thank you, Charles, wherever you are, brother."  Wyatt Flores sang the first verse, and Charles Wesley Godwin joined him for the second verse. The two were having a ball on stage, belting the words and jumping around during the song's bridge. It was a moment of pure joy, and watching it, you see two musicians who genuinely love what they do, supporting each other in their dreams. This one is well worth the watch. Fire it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77r_aG9sl_k
