Interestingly I received this email from the Owasso Public Schools Superintendent (my wife and are Guardians of two grandchildren attending High School): “Owasso Parents & Guardians, We have received questions today about a recent request from the State Department of Education asking our school district to share a video with parents and students. Owasso Public Schools has no plans to interrupt the instructional day to show or send this video. Our focus remains on using instructional time for our current curriculum and activities, which have been thoughtfully developed by our local teachers, approved by our local school board, and align with the Oklahoma Academic Standards. Thank you for your continued support of Owasso Public Schools. Sincerely, Dr. Margaret Coates Superintendent” To which I responded: “If the video in question is Superintendent Walters on the Bible in Classrooms, let’s get back to the Founders’ original interpretation of Separation if Church & State, viz., Keep the State out of Church while the Church influences the State. If it’s that video – SHOW IT!” I was amazed the Owasso Superintendent replied within minutes on a Sunday: “Mr. Houk, Good Morning, I apologize for any confusion. If you would like to view the video you can do so on the State Department of Education's YouTube page. Thank you” And so, I share the full video.
