Federal Agents, NYPD Bust Tren De Aragua Gang House, Arrest Seven
Federal agents with the Department of Homeland Security worked with the New York Police Department (NYPD) to carry out a raid against a gang house in the Bronx run by Tren de Aragua, a vicious Venezuelan gang.
Law enforcement carried out the December 5th raid at an apartment building near the Bronx’s Crotona Park neighborhood, resulting in the arrest of seven men who authorities believe to be members of the Venezuelan gang. One of those men, 28-year-old Venezuelan national Jarwin Valero-Calderon, was reportedly wearing an ankle monitoring device that allowed the authorities to track him and the others down to their Bronx location.
The bust comes after members of the Venezuelan gang had taken over entire apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado, this summer. “We currently have entire complexes under gang control — complexes where staff have been beaten up, they’ve been threatened, their families have been threatened [and] complexes where there are no staff left on the property. These complexes are being run by this Tren de Aragua gang,” Aurora City Council member Danielle Jurinsky explained.
One of the men arrested in the recent raid in the Bronx, Valero-Calderon, had previously been arrested on three different occasions, was convicted in Nassau County, and is facing a federal deportation order.
“This is what actual supervised release looks like?” one law enforcement source told reporters. “The thing about ankle monitors is you have to actually monitor them to be effective.”

Also arrested in the raid was 24-year-old Jhonaiker Alexander Gil Cardozo, who had been arrested on four different occasions after crossing the southern border into the United States in September 2024. Cardozo had been arrested by the NYPD for reckless endangerment and robbery in June, then again in July for grand larceny and stolen property. He was arrested yet again for shoplifting in Greenville, South Carolina.
Jesus Manuel Quintero Granado, 30-years old, was also arrested in the raid and is believed to be a member of Tren de Aragua. Granado crossed into the United States in September 2022 with his wife and child before heading to Canada, where their asylum claim was rejected. Agents at the northern border proceeded to release Granado into the United States.
Also arrested in the raid was 21-year-old Fernandez Franco Greymer De Dios, who was caught at the border in May and was being processed for deportation.
The raid comes as President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to carry out the largest mass deportation effort in American history, tapping former Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Tom Homan as his border czar.
