Aspiring Singer, Dakota Caden, Gains Viral Attention With “You Look Like You Love Me” Cover

"You Look Like You Love Me" was, without a doubt, the duet of 2024. Ella Langley and Riley Green struck gold with this collaboration, earning them their first CMA Award win for Musical Event of the Year. The cheeky love song highlights the his-and-hers side of lusting over a man or woman in the bar and hoping they'll take you home. Since the single's release, Langley has opened up and said that she never thought it would see the light of day when she wrote it. Ella co-wrote most of it with Aaron Ratiere, and Ella would cut it as a solo song before Riley Green later added his verse to the tune, officially making it a duet. Ella recalled on the God's Country Podcast, Aaron asked her about her love life during a writing session, and she told him: “‘Honestly, I’m at the point where if they look like they love me, I gotta get out of there. It’s just too much for me right now.’ And we giggled at that, and then as songwriters, when you hear something like ‘you look like you love me,’ we’re like, ‘Well there’s a title, You Look Like You Love Me.’ And we just wrote the title down… we wrote the song in 2022, so six months later, we had an afternoon write, he loves to talk about how I brought in this bowl of spaghetti. I made my lunch, brought it in… and we say this is like the luckiest bowl of spaghetti. I think we might get a tattoo with a tiny piece of spaghetti on it.” Putting Green's verse on the track made it a hit single, and the two became viral sensations from the hit. The cheeky love song even sparked dating rumors at one point between Langley and Green, even more so after the release of "Don't Mind If I Do." But, hey, this shows they know how to sell the emotion behind the lyrics. When the song went viral, many artists tapped into its popularity, sharing their versions of the tune. In July, at the height of the song's popularity, an aspiring artist named Dakota Caden shared her take on the single. After listening to a few of her tunes, I would not classify her as a country artist, but hearing her put a twang on these lyrics works for her. Dakota is pictured strumming her guitar (with acrylic nails, which is a talent in itself) and effortlessly delivering the song's chorus. Country music fans quickly discovered her video, which has gained 4.6 million views at the time of writing. The video also caught the attention of Ella herself, who left an encouraging comment for the aspiring singer: "Ugh, so g, good!! Also, you’re stunning!!"
