The California cowboy is back. Today, Jon Pardi released a new music video for his song "Friday Night Heartbreaker," which is a song he put out last year and will serve as the lead single from his forthcoming (unofficially announced) fifth studio album. He put out his last studio album Mr. Saturday Night in 2022, and a holiday album called Merry Christmas from Jon Pardi in 2023, so it's been quite a while since we've heard from him in terms of a lot of new music. This new video was filmed in Nashville’s historic Printer’s Alley, and directed by Jim Wright. The song itself highlights Pardi's signature mix of honky-tonk rhythms and contemporary flair, and he says filming with the actors and actresses who performed the circus stunts was his favorite part of making the video: "I always enjoy filming with Jim Wright, even if it means being in Printer's Alley until 2 AM. You really see some wild characters down there at that hour. One of my favorite parts of the shoot was chatting with the actors and actresses who performed the circus stunts—they were amazing! All I had to do was play guitar and drive a cool car while they were over there breathing fire and swallowing swords. It was awesome to watch it all come together!" It's definitely not your typical country music video, and I have to agree that the stunt people make the video super cool and fun to watch... check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnuJ8om9iDA Additionally, Jon's headlining 2025 Honkytonk Hollywood Tour will kick off in Lubbock, Texas in April and run through June finishing up in Bend, Oregon. He is bringing along Corey Kent and Kassie Ashton as openers, and a portion of ticket sale proceeds from the tour benefit the newly established Starlight Fund. Founded with his wife Summer Pardi, the Starlight Fund supports organizations dedicated to providing opportunities and resources specific to young people in need that are pursuing a path in the trades, agriculture and construction. In 2024, Pardi toured overseas quite a bit as part of his Mr. Saturday Night world tour, and seeing as it's been years since Jon has put out a new record, I know fans are more than ready for some new tunes from the California cowboy. He and his wife, Summer, have welcomed tow little girls over the last few years, so he’s been busy at home adjusting to life as a dad, but it sounds like he’s ready to kick it back into full gear in 2025. Pardi burst onto the scene with his 2016 California Sunrise album, which included hits like “Head Over Boots,” “Heartache on the Dance Floor,” “She Ain’t in It” and “Night Shift.” It definitely felt like something has been missing without much new music from Pardi, so I’m excited to see what he’s cooked up in the studio this year.
