Drayton Farley Releases Stellar Acoustic Cover Of Pink Floyd’s “Time”
Drayton Farley absolutely kills it on this one, but that's no surprise.
No stranger to posting covers on social media and YouTube, Drayton Farley has been known to nail a cover from time to time, but up until today, he had never officially released one on his own to streaming platforms. Shaking things up with a killer rendition of Pink Floyd's hit "Time," which has also famously been covered by Tyler Childers, Farley has kicked off what is shaping up to be a big 2025 on high note following a relatively quiet 2024.
While Farley's impeccable vocals are going impress on anything he releases, the stripped-back nature of this "Time" cover truly shines a spotlight on Farley's vocal promise, and provides a unique take on an all-time classic. Check out what Farley had to say on Instagram about his decision to record the cover below.
"This is the first cover song I've ever released. My Dad has always been a fan of Pink Floyd and introduced me to the band. I remember seeing Childers cover this one and it shook me and inspired me to cover the song.
So this cover is for my Dad. It's raw, it's rough. It's real. I hope y'all love it."

"Time," one of many massive hits for the iconic English rock band Pink Floyd, was originally released in March 1973 as the fourth track on their seminal record The Dark Side of the Moon. Recorded at EMI Recording Studios, which is now known as Abbey Road Studios, "Time" was written by the band's bassist Roger Waters after he realized how quickly time can pass while in the throes of a busy life.
If you've somehow managed to live your life without listening to Dark Side of the Moon, or at least hearing "Time" in passing, then you really need to listen tot he original version as well.

Farley, a Woodstock, Alabama native, released his debut single "Trouble in the Pines" in 2018, and his debut album Hargrove & Sweet Southern Sadness - The Extended Plays in 2020, but it was his sophomore effort in 2021 titled A Hard up Life that truly seemed gain traction within the country music scene and catapult Farley into the next echelon of up and coming artists.
That record set the stage for what was a massive 2023 from Farley, with the release of his spectacular third record Twenty on High, his OurVinyl Sessions EP, and the Kudzu Wild EP in September of that year. But that was the last time we've gotten new original music from Farley, so I can only imagine the heat he's been writing over the past year. It sounds like we may get to hear some new stuff in 2025, but in the meantime, Farley has already announced plans to release a live album at the end of this month.
Titled Live & Acoustic From Germany, the 12-track live record is set to be released on January 31. Farley took to Instagram last week to announce the record, provide some context behind it, and allude to lots of new music on the horizon.
"My next album, 'Live & Acoustic From Germany' will be available for pre-order on iTunes starting January 24th and will release everywhere you get music on Friday, January 31st!
Recorded live at Die Kantine in Cologne, Germany on May 21st 2024 while in tour in Europe supporting my friends 49 Winchester - This is my first official live album release, I hope you enjoy.
More new music coming soon. Then some more right after that. Then some more after that. It's 2025. There are no rules. Happy New Year. I love you."

I'm pumped to see what 2025 has in store for Farley.
