‘The View’ Host Joy Behar Questions How Carrie Underwood Could “Love Her Country” And Perform At President Donald Trump’s Inauguration

Not surprised she doesn't get it. I'm not really sure who's still watching The View for their expert political analysis, but apparently there are still a few people tuning in to the ABC daytime talk show because they're still on the air spewing their nonsense. Of course I'm sure their audience only consists of people who think exactly like they do, because why else would you watch this other than to have your opinions justified by a bunch of rich old women who like to complain about how bad they have it and bitch about Donald Trump. But anyway, there's my opinion on the show, not that anybody asked for it. The View is hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin, and clips from the show often go viral not for their astute political analysis, but because of how insane their liberal political takes can be - things like not going to Thanksgiving with your family if they supported Trump or comparing the January 6th protests to the Holocaust. Totally normal stuff here. And yesterday, they decided to weigh in on Carrie Underwood performing at President Donald Trump's inauguration. Of course there were quite a few people who were pretty triggered when it was announced that the American Idol alum would be performing "America the Beautiful" at the inauguration next week, immediately ahead of Trump's swearing in as the 47th President of the United States. Plenty of people are vowing to boycott Carrie's music now, and trolls even flooded the comments of American Idol on Instagram demanding that she be fired from the show after signing on as a judge this upcoming season, promising to never watch again while she's on there. For her part, Carrie has defended her decision to perform at the historic inauguration ceremony, calling it an "honor" to perform for her country: “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.” I mean, wouldn't it be an honor to perform at any presidential inauguration? You would think so - but apparently Joy Behar doesn't get it. Yesterday on The View, Behar questioned how Carrie could "love her country" while still performing at Trump's inauguration. Yes, really. "I would not normalize him. She says, 'I love our country.' How do you love your country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon who really wants to destroy the country, in my opinion? I don't understand how you say you love your country at the same time as you normalize this convicted felon." Behar then seems to contradict herself with her very next sentence, saying that she wouldn't tell someone they shouldn't perform at the inauguration: "I would not be the person to say, 'Don't do it.' Because I believe in free speech and everything about it. I personally would not do it." I think I speak for everyone when I say we're all thankful that Joy Behar won't be singing at the inauguration...or anywhere else. Sunny Hostin agreed that she wouldn't personally perform if asked, but seemed to support Carrie's decision to perform where she wants to perform. The most surprising part of the whole conversation, however, was that Whoopi Goldberg seemed to be the voice of reason this time: "People do what they do for whatever reasons... I gotta stand behind them. And I stand behind her." When Hostin chimed in with "or not," Whoopi quickly shut her down: "No, not 'or not.' Because if I believe I have the right to make up my mind to go perform some place, I believe they have the same right. So I have to support. Doesn't mean I'm particularly interested in watching. I won't be watching. But that's me." Who would have thought that Whoopi would be the most reasonable of the group. https://youtu.be/tZKd9UCe7Y8?si=0JL77_wSAVHsJT46&t=682
