Coming Together: Japan Issues $2 Million Donation To California Wildfire Relief

On January 7, wildfires in Los Angeles caused over 100,000 people to be put under an evacuation order. These deadly fires have proven to be some of the worst in the area’s history. Firefighters continue to battle these dangerous flames. Meanwhile, there are others finding their own ways to help in the recovery process. This includes healthcare workers and celebrities alike. But folks local to LA, or even the state of California, are not the only ones wanting to help. The government of Japan is said to have made a $2 million donation for victims of these wildfires. This money was given to the American Red Cross. Consul General Kenko Sone of Japan shared a message along with this donation. View this post on Instagram A post shared by KIF USA (@kif_usa) “Japan is a nation that has experienced natural disasters and we are thankful for the generous support supplied by Southern California when it was needed the most,” his message reads. “We stand with you all to support immediate needs and will do our best to collaborate with authorities, communities, and all of you to rebuild communities devastated by the fires.” Japan Announces $2 Million Donation to Help Victims of the Deadly Los Angeles Wildfires News of this donation broke early in January. At that time, the $2 million was expected to help establish evacuation sites and provide both food and psychological support. Considering the fact that it will take many months to recover from these devastating fires, donations of this size are quite literally life changing. “Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires… Even under such difficult circumstances, it is encouraging to see so many organizations, volunteers, and individuals donating food, supplies and time to help with ongoing efforts,” the General’s message continues. “The perseverance and resilience of Angelenos is amazing and what the City of Angels represents.” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here!
