The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that a film adaptation of Crossed is in the works, with a script from Ennis, and Rob Jabbaz taking the director’s chair. In Crossed, a zombie-like pandemic spreads across the world, except in this case, instead of becoming mindless, well, zombies… people become murderous psychopaths with their intelligence intact. Jabbaz’s previous work includes The Sadness, a Taiwanese horror flick where a disease turns people violent (I’m sensing a trend here). The film’s plot will focus on the first ten issues of Crossed, which were published from 2008 to 2010. The feature also has a modest budget of $2 to $3 million and is backed by the production company, Six Studios. “It has been a real delight working with Garth Ennis and Six Studios developing Crossed for the big screen,” Jabbaz told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “From day one, our primary goal has been to deliver a faithful adaptation of the original series, along with a few new surprises. I certainly hope audiences are ready for this.” “Happy New Year,” added Ennis. “It’s 2025 and the world is catching up with the world of Crossed in all the wrong ways.
