By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on January 24, 2025 Courtesy of Neon Comment 0 Share New Share Courtesy of Neon Actors Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) and Billy Byrk (Wynonna Earp, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) starred in and directed a campy slasher film called Hell of a Summer.  The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023 (Wolfhard was 20 when they shot it!), but it’s since been picked up by Neon and will soon be making its way to a theater near you. To celebrate the occasion, Neon released a trailer, giving us a taste of the meta horror comedy.  Here’s the official synopsis: Hell of a Summer follows 24-year-old camp counselor Jason Hochberg (Fred Hechinger), who arrives at Camp Pineway thinking his biggest problem is that he feels out of touch with his teenage co-workers. What he doesn’t know is that a masked killer is lurking on the campgrounds, brutally picking counselors off one by one. “Since I was maybe 10 or 11, I’ve been watching tons of movies, I’ve been watching behind the scenes on movies, I would stay after work on set to watch all the directors and learn from them and how sets work,” Wolfhard said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “So I felt a little in my element at some points. At some points, I felt completely terrified and like I was flailing, but we had a great cast and crew. It was great. It was all the things, right? It was a small movie in the middle of nowhere in Canada, and it was incredible and hilarious. It was one of the best experiences of my life.” Wolfhard and Byrk are still working together, and are reportedly teaming up with Jason Reitman to remake Idle Hands, because why not.  In addition to Hechinger, Wolfhard, and Byrk, Hell of a Summer stars Abby Quinn, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Pardis Saremi, Rosebud Bakeri, and Adam Pally.
