Billy Ray Cyrus Says He’s “Praying” For His Family, Asks For Healing As Loved Ones Beg Him To Get Help
Hard to heal when you're sending legal threats to your son...
There's been a lot of family drama come out since Billy Ray Cyrus delivered his bizarre performance at the Liberty Ball last week to celebrate President Donald Trump's inauguration.
Tech issues plagued the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer throughout the performance, whose voice was nearly unrecognizable when he decided to stop lip-synching. After ranting at tech staff and asking whether he should just "get the hell off the stage," Billy Ray decided to launch into an acapella performance that had fans wondering whether he was drunk or on drugs. And finally, he seemed to be escorted off stage after bizarrely wandering around and waving at fans in the dark as his song "Could've Been Me" played in the background.
It was tough to watch.

After the performance, Billy Ray's (apparently estranged) son Trace Cyrus issued an emotional plea to his father to seek help.
Trace, who is the son of Billy Ray's ex-wife Tish Cyrus, said that the singer has pushed his family away as they've been "genuinely worried" about him for years, and says that everyone seems to recognize that he needs help except for Billy Ray himself. He ends by assuring his father that his message comes only from a place of love, and offering to help him through his struggles as he begs him to reach out:
"Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life.
Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away. Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though.
We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns. You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it. Just like I showed up for you at mamaw's funeral when you didn’t expect me to I’m still here right now.
As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you Dad.
We haven’t talked in a while but I’m over a year and half clean from alcohol. Guess what? I feel amazing.. I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you. Billy Ray Cyrus"

And Billy Ray's ex-wife Firerose, who the country singer divorced only seven months after getting married, also released a statement claiming that the world was finally seeing what she had to deal with during their short marriage:
“What’s being seen in public now reflects much of what I experienced in private during our relationship.
It’s very sad to see those same struggles continue for him, but I’m glad the truth is coming to light — for his potential good because healing is only possible when you confront the truth and accept there’s a problem.”
But apparently the pleas from loved ones have fallen on deaf ears so far. Over the weekend, Trace Cyrus claimed that Billy Ray threatened him with legal action after his call for his dad to seek help:
"Dad my message was beyond loving. I could have been extremely honest about a lot more but I don’t want to put your business out there like that. But for you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace. Pappy is looking down at you with such disappointment I can assure you. You should be ashamed of yourself. I will always love you but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not. Get help.”
Brutal.
Billy Ray hasn't really spoken out on the family drama, although last Friday he did announce a new album produced by his son Braison Cyrus. And over the weekend, he seemingly alluded to the problems in the caption of a video posted to YouTube:
"Sunday callin. Giving thanks for the California Rain . Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Praying for my family. For my children … sons and daughters…and their mother. Let this moment be the start of healing for us all. “The past does not equal the future." Amen"

Hopefully this means that Billy Ray is willing to listen to his family and figure out how they can move forward. But it seems like that's hard to do when you're calling your lawyer instead of your son...
