President Trump Takes Additional Action Against Former Intelligence Agents Who Labeled Hunter Biden’s Laptop As Russian Disinformation

According to a memo obtained by The Daily Wire, President Trump has barred the 50 former intelligence officials who falsely labeled Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation from entering secure U.S. government buildings. The outlet reports that the memo expanded Trump’s executive order to revoke the security clearance for the individuals. The memo, sent “on behalf of the President,” directs multiple federal agencies to “revoke unescorted access to secure U.S. Government facilities from the 50 former intelligence officials named in the Executive Order.” “These individuals no longer possess a need to access secure facilities, and as outlined in the Executive Order, do not have the appropriate security clearances to access classified information,” the memo read. EXCLUSIVE with @BrentScher: Trump takes further action against the 50 intelligence officials who falsely said Hunter Biden’s laptop was “part of a Russian disinformation campaign,” banning them from stepping foot in secure U.S. government facilities. https://t.co/YIygKTWhw9 — Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) January 31, 2025 The Daily Wire reports: Included in the list of individuals are prominent members of the intelligence community, including former CIA directors John Brennan, Michael Hayden, and Leon Panetta, who also at one time served as Secretary of Defense. It also includes the former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and John Bolton, the longtime diplomat who most recently served under Trump as his national security advisor. The memo was sent to the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Director of National Intelligence, and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. It was also distributed to the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, who is tasked with informing any other “clearance-granting U.S. Government entity” of the ban “to ensure compliance.” The action comes as part of the Trump administration’s effort to weed out government officials who participated in political weaponization of their power. His initial executive order charged that “the signatories willfully weaponized the gravitas of the Intelligence Community to manipulate the political process and undermine our democratic institutions.” BREAKING: President Trump issues a ban on the 51 intelligence agents who falsely claimed Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation from entering any federal buildings. Now prosecute them. pic.twitter.com/RtFOZnJ92P — Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) January 31, 2025 NBC News noted: In an executive order issued hours after his inauguration on Monday, Trump stripped 49 former senior officials of their security clearances for signing a letter more than four years ago that Trump said showed “misleading and inappropriate political coordination” with Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. The former senior officials have repeatedly denied Trump’s claim. The 2020 open letter, endorsed by former senior intelligence and national security officials, suggested Russia might have played a role in spreading allegations about Biden’s son Hunter as part of a wider effort to influence the outcome of the election. Trump also removed the security clearance for John Bolton, his former national security adviser, accusing him of revealing sensitive information in a memoir. Bolton has denied revealing any information that jeopardized national security. Read the full memo HERE.
