Zach Top Finally Responds To Rumors That He’s Alan Jackson’s Son: “My Parents Won’t Answer Me Straight”

Zach Top responds. At the beginning of the year, a Canadian radio station gained significant attention when host Docc Andrews of 93.7 JR Country aired a conspiracy theory that Zach Top was Alan Jackson's offspring. Fans know the Washington native has a sound reminiscent of the classic '90s country twang that Jackson is known for, so the theory wasn't too far-fetched.  Andrews gave a compelling case that Top might have been conceived after Jackson played the Tacoma Dome, roughly 9 months before Top was born. “You guys, Zach Top was born September 6th, 1997, in Sunnyside, Washington, USA. If you go back nine months from his birth date to the winter of 1996. In November of 1996, Alan Jackson played at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington! Have you seen Zach Top’s face? His mustache? His sound? Zach Top is Alan Jackson’s son. Prove me wrong.” @doccandrews #ZachTop is Alan Jackson’s son? #countrymusic #vancouver ♬ original sound - Tic Docc The internet took the theory and ran with it... so much so that people even updated Top's Wikipedia page to indicate that he was Alan Jackson's son. “Zach Top was born on September 26, 1997, and grew up on his father Alan Jackson’s ranch in Sunnyside, Washington. He got his musical start performing as part of a bluegrass band with his siblings called Top String.” I mean, the mustaches, the twang, the jukebox jams they produce—it's not the craziest conspiracy theory I've ever heard. Zach Top Addresses Rumor Given the many times Top has spoken about his family, I doubt this theory has any legs, but it makes for some good, wholesome internet content. And the content just got better because Zach Top finally addressed the theory. YES, THAT'S RIGHT, ZACH TOP IS SPEAKING ON THE MATTER. When speaking with The Rob and Holly Show!, the two co-hosts asked Top if the rumor was true, and Zach Top gave us a golden answer. "Hell, it's more than a rumor. I've been trying to figure out what the answer is. My parents won't answer me straight, and nobody will."  Rob and Holly laugh before Zach Top says his master plan to determine whether his dad is Alan Jackson. "I think the only way I'm going to get a straight answer is in Fort Worth when I finally meet him when we do that first show here in a few weeks. Just gonna go up and say, 'Hi Daddy, I missed you.' And we'll see how he reacts, and I'll know whether it's true or not." The group then jokes about how similar they look when you overlay an image of Jackson with Top—it seems like they have the same genes. But, of course, given that Alan Jackson is a country superstar, Zach Top also makes a PSA that he means no disrespect by calling him "Daddy." Holly jokes, doubting that this is the first time Alan Jackson has been called Daddy. "Sorry, Alan, if this is disrespectful. If you see this, I love you, and I respect you, and uh, we are just having fun." Just like we all wondered until this moment if Zach Top was aware of this rumor (which he clearly was), he also wonders if Alan Jackson has heard talk of them potentially being related. "He surely has to be aware of it. I don't imagine he scrolls Instagram or TikTok very much, but surely somebody in his camp has like made him aware that this is a thing. So I hope, I hope we can do something funny, you know, on his tour where we kind of acknowledge it." Zach Top continues that he hopes Jackson has him out on stage with him during the shows they are set to play together for Last Call: One More for the Road Tour, wishing that Jackson will say "That's my boy" at the end of a song they play together. While that's not confirmed to happen, Zach Top and anyone attending those shows sure hope it does. @robandhollyshow @Zach Top responds to the rumors that #alanjackson is his father ?? ? #zachtop #alanjackson #areyoumydaddy #daddy #robandhollyshow @robstoneradio @giddyupholly ♬ original sound - Rob and Holly Show! Zach Top Hits The Road With Alan Jackson As I'm sure many of y'all have heard by now, Zach Top and Alan Jackson are teaming up for four stops of Alan Jackson’s Last Call: One More For The Road Tour. The two will deliver a night full of damn good country music. We all know that AJ is one of the pioneers of the '90s sound we all know and love, and the young buck Zach Top is following in his footsteps. The Washington native started out playing bluegrass, which lends him to be a sensational guitar player, but when he started writing music, he found himself reviving that classic country sound. Even compared to the greats like Jackson, Keith Whitley, and others, Top has never tried to be a ’90s country gimmick. He even spoke about it with Wrangler Western, saying that he feels part of the reason he appeals to such a wide range of ages is that he takes inspiration from ’90s icons but still makes it his own. “I think that maybe part of the reason people like my music so much is that it’s not a… it’s not like a ’90s gimmick thing. This is all I know how to do. It’s not like I made the choice that I’m going to be a ’90s throwback guy. It’s like I grew up listening and learning from the same guys that all those ’90s guys would have been influenced by. So it comes from just as genuine of a place as those guys did the first time they came around.” If Zach Top and Alan Jackson are coming to a city near you, this is not a show you'll want to miss.
