Charles Wesley Godwin Deals Perspective With New Single “It’s The Little Things”
It's hard to think of a better way to start your Friday than with new music from Charles Wesley Godwin.
And fortunately, for the first time since September, we get to do that today. Titled "It's the Little Things," Godwin's latest single is a heartfelt ode to the smaller moments, like the first sip of coffee in the morning or taking a minute to do a good deed for one another, that give us something to look forward to or puts a smile on someone's face.
Encouraging the listener to appreciate these moments, and perhaps seek them out amidst the struggle and hustle of everyday life, Godwin's latest single deals a fresh perspective that anyone, whether a fan of country music or not, ought to be able to appreciate. And with clever lyricism, tasteful instrumentation, and a catchy melody, "It's The Little Things" is yet another spectacular addition to Godwin's catalog.
Check it out for yourself here:
"A smile and a wave
Go a little out of your way
Or holding a door a second more
A spare dollar from a billfold
It don't have to be so bold
To make your own red letter day"

Ever since the release of his debut record Seneca, Godwin has been one of our favorites here at Whiskey Riff, and as he's continued to release music, it's been awesome seeing his fanbase grow and career flourish. And there's no one in the industry that is more deserving.
The world is a better place when Charles Wesley Godwin is releasing new music, and luckily there's more on the way in the near future. When he took to Instagram earlier this week to announce the single, Godwin also announced a new EP coming at the end of the month. His first studio project since his breakthrough, family-focus record Family Ties came out in 2023, Godwin's Lonely Mountain Town EP is set to include seven brand new songs and features a couple of high profile collaborations that will be highly anticipated.
"My new song 'It's the Little Things,' comes out this Friday, February 7th and I'll be releasing an EP titled 'Lonely Mountain Town on February 28th. I've learned that I'm at my best when I'm writing and recording songs, so this time around, I was determined, no matter how much I was on the go, to keep pursuing that love of the song and creating. The songs on 'Lonely Mountain Town' are a result of that effort, and I'm excited to share them with you! I also had the opportunity to collaborate with some of my friends and heroes on these songs, which makes them all the more special. I hope they bring you comfort and joy in the same way they did for me creating them."
Godwin says most of the album was written on the road, and if you know how busy he's been in the past year, it's not hard to understand why... where else would he find the time. The result? A quieter, yet more pensive, more cathartic writing process that has yielded some of his best work to date.
Of the process, Godwin found himself diving deep into the nuances of people and their stories:
These are character songs. Most of them aren't about my life. They're just little pieces that I've taken from traveling.”

As most everyone knows by now, Godwin and his band The Allegheny High put on one of the most electrifying live shows in country music, and I'm sure these songs will all make great additions to their setlist as they continue to tour heavily in 2025.
So don't miss out on your chance to catch a show and hear these songs live while he's still playing relatively small venues, because with the trajectory he is on right now, it's not out of the realm of possibility for Charles Wesley Godwin to be playing arenas before too long.
