Whiskey Myers Confirms Their 7th Studio Album Is In The Works: “New Music Coming Soon!”
CONFIRMED.
Sound the alarms, ring the celebratory bells, and scream in excitement if you want because Whiskey Myers is making new music.
The East Texas Southern rock band is cooking up something good. They have confirmed they are working on their next record. It's been three years since Whiskey Myers released their last record, Tornillo. Fans have been itching for new music, but given the band's hectic tour schedule, the group truly did not have time to get into the studio.
Luckily for us, the band has some downtime at the beginning of the year after coming off their acoustic tour, and before they hit the road again, starting with a performance at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, they have found some time to sneak in a studio session or two.
Fans speculated that the group was working on a new album or, at minimum, a few new singles as they shared film images of the boys in the studio, hard at work.

While fans had a strong indication this announcement was on the way, it's always good to hear it from the horse's mouth, and this week, Whiskey Myers confirmed speculations that they are working on their 7th studio album.
"For those that haven’t figured it out, we have been in the studio with Jay Joyce, creating what will be our 7th album. We’ve seen that y’all have been listening to our music more now than ever before, and we can’t wait for y’all to hear this new stuff. Stay tuned. New music coming soon!"

Jay Joyce is a rebound session musician and producer who has worked with a wide range of artists, including Eric Church, Lainey Wilson, Emmylou Harris, the Zac Brown Band, and Brandi Clark.
Fans were curious if Whiskey Myers would self-produce another record after doing so for Tornillo and their self-titled 2019 record. Guitarist John Jeffers told the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast that their confidence in self-production was higher when creating Tornillo than when they first attempted it on Whiskey Myers.
“We self-produced the last album, and then turned around and did another one, so we kinda kept the same groove we used on the last one, ‘cuz we were happy how it turned out.
You know, we went in with the same mindset on the white one was like, we’ll let’s go try to self-produce it, and if it sucks, then we’ll ask somebody to come help us. But we ended up thinking it didn’t suck, so we kinda just went in with the same mindset, you know?”
While it's not specified if Joyce is working with them as a session player or producer, they have help from a highly talented professional either way.
Fans were thrilled to hear this news and expressed excitement in the comments. Even Ray Wylie Hubbard is stoked for new music from the boys.
